XX SHOCKER
I have some NIP XX era shocks and shock bodies and noticed that some are black and some are a lighter shade, kinda grey/black in colour.
I'm guessing the black ones are SE era and the lighter shade ones XX era?
I want the right shocks on the right cars...

Re: XX SHOCKER
The shocks on my XX (first gen with the Hydra drive) are black, I am not certain about the lighter colored, but the black ones are from early gen XX's.

Re: XX SHOCKER
As far as I know, all XXs should have black shocks. The transitions took place in the Pro SE days (from what I can tell.... just by being observant). Some Pro SEs I have seen have black and some have grey.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Re: XX SHOCKER
When the pro SE came out, the shocks were black. These were suppose to be the hard body shocks (which also came in gold). Prior to that, losi came out with the green teflon coated shocks.
The same black shocks were used on the first XX. After some time, the dark gray shocks were used on the junior series (2&t) and were also used on the XX sport. The gray shocks are darker than the original silver byt lighter than the black shocks.
Here's a picture of a xx sport that I restored a couple years ago. It's hard to tell from the pic, but the rear shocks are black and the fronts are the dark gray. The car originally came with the gray shocks all around, but the rears were a mess. I didn't have an extra set of the gray rear bodies, so I put the black ones on there.
Below are pictures of my jrx pro with the regular silver shocks in front and the green teflon shocks in rear. The green shocks were not made in the shorter lengths...so I went with the regular shocks.
hope this helops...
