Cleaning cast alloy / Aluminum

So, what is the best way to get rid of these stains? Need ideas on how to clean this. They are clean now but still have the stains. I am not looking for it to be sparking shinning but I would like to get rid of the un-evened of the staining.

thats a rough one lol, i tryed myself on parts. i used a dremel wire brush (soft brass bristles) to clean them up, then use 2000 grit sandpaper and wetsanded it to smooth it out. they still never looked 100% but alot better.

probably bead blast (NOT sand), followed by a dremel with some felt points and cutting compound. will probably take awhile.

you might get away without the bead blast too.

i was thinking a tumbler also. either that, or soda blasting.

I used a tumbler to remove rust on AYK cast parts. Worked well to remove the rust but it did not give a smooth finish. I was using a sand used for polishing agates... I wanted to try other sanding/polising compound but didn't find the time..

i would try some nev-r-dull on them if its just stained. for pitting definitely media blasting of some sort.

I would also avoid the bearing areas with whatever you use to clean them up. Not sure how tight the bearings fit, but if you can leave it as is, it will help from keeping the bearings from flopping out. Any polishing or tumbling or media blasting may remove some material(slight, but could be enough).

Hey Mig, some one on the site was lookin at a Sassy Chassis and I saw a chassis of yours .I think yours looks just as well. maybe they should give ya a holler JohnnySr ( MIGCHASSIS)

I think his chassis are better that the sassis chassis... Seems thicker.

it's definitely old-school stuff in the sense that you have to use some good old fashioned elbow grease.
