B3 slipping clutch

Hi guys,
I have a bit of a problem with my B3 slipper, after a lack of use I thought I would give it a run at the weekend at my local club on grass as it wasn't raining , but no mater how tight the nut was the clutch would slip like crazy, the plates seam fine I tried roughing them up with some fine wet n dry but nothing, it still slips any ideas would be great as getting beat by a Tamiya really stings

are you sure it's the slipper and not the diff?

Yes checked the diff first, plus after a five minute race the slipper is red hot

are your spur gear screws rubbing the inner hub by any chance? i had that happen once. the spur gear was thinner than normal, and the screws bottomed out on the inner hub and i never noticed it. that would cause heat, plus draw the outer hub away from the slipper disc. not saying that's what's happening, but it's just a thought.

or, your slipper disc is shot and the hubs are rubbing together. that probably the problem.

when they have been used for a while, the slipper pad and the slipper hubs get too smooth, try to replace the pad and to slightly sandpaper the hubs... or maybe you're running a 4T motor...

i have striped the clutch and there are no scuff marks so i dont think its the screws, might try and order some new pads and see how it goes

4T motors i wish, its more like 14 Double did sound like an old automatic though

AE B4/T4 type slipper for my B3/T3 and Duratrax Evader ST/BX.

Remove the slipper setup from buggy, keep parts in order so you can reassemble as needed.

The inner slipper plate remove the lip that holds the slipper pad in place.

Get 1 set of AE B4/T4 slipper pads AE#9603 (they come two in a pack).

Get a AE#9651 81t spur.

1. Put inner slipper on buggy
2. Then a slipper pad
3. Then spur gear making sure slipper pad is in its placement on gear.

AE manaul states to "press pads into spur gear" have 3 AE trucks/buggys and I've never had them stay in the gear as I assembled the slipper!!

4. Second slipper pad
5. Outer slipper plate
6. The rest of the washers/spring/nut in the order you removed them.

NO you do not use screws to mount spur gear, its between the slipper plates not on the outside of the outer plate.

7. Adjust slipper nut as needed.

Much smoother under power and coming out of turns like my Race B4.

Did this also to my T3 and a Duratrax Evader ST.
