Gold Pan runner build(updated 9-18-10)
This is my start to a gold pan runner build. Milled the chassis at work and rounded over back of chassis where it attaches to the motor and also rounded over the nose piece and cut it the same shape as the 6309 nose. Then sanded edge of chassis all the way around.

They are on there way. Nice looking project Mike!! Nice milling job. What type of lathe is needed to do this? I have an old Atlas 12" lathe, but i have little to no experience using it and have been wanting to attemp this, But don't know if i need any special attachments, parts..ect.mikea96 wrote:Thanks! If things seem under control, you are just not going fast enough.

Nice work so far. I like the milling job you did. I am like you, I like to be a little different than the standard Worlds tub.
I think you will end up with a fantastic runner.

Thanks!! I just used a vertical mill we have at work, nothing fancy but a lathe won't work for doing this type of machining.transamman908 wrote:They are on there way. Nice looking project Mike!! No, you need to learn to tighten all 3 chuck holes on your millToasted Coastie wrote:I need to learn how to mill pans....

Were the originals just milled to loose a couple grams weight or was it to induce some more flex? or both?. Also has anyone tried pressing a new chassis? I worked in a engineering shop for a while and I think it would be very easy to do

I asked the same question. Some guys were against it but a lot were for it. I have a buddy that works at a fab shop and he was gonna sehe if anybody was interested in doing it. But I haven't seen him in a while. If you are going to try it go for it, I think it would be cool to make some 10t noseplates.

Some updated photos with new towers and RPM bumper mounted. This is a very slow build do to limited funds. Still need to find a white stealth tranny with gold motor plate.

Very nice, can't wait to see her done, BTW..If you're doing some milling or chassis mods, how come you didnt shave the sides down? It was an old mod we did back in the day to get the weight or bulk off the sides. Either way, I still like it!
