Jelly Beans??

Post by craigc8791 »

Today I got some jelly bean wheels with the crome looking finish. :D But I was soon to find out the finish had worn off on the rear set :x So can I remove the finish then dye the wheels? Or will that mess them up?

Thanks Craig

Sure, EZoff oven cleaner will remove chrome plating on plastic, and you can dye them any color you want, or soak them in peroxide in sunlight to brighten them up again to new-ish minty white.

Oven cleaner works great but don't use it indoors b/c the fumes are nasty and I would wear gloves too. In my experience too the wheels usually need to be dyed b/c the chroming/de-chroming process leaves them dull looking.
