Project Graphite

Post by RCveteran »

Just posting some pics of a car I am working on. Started out as white suspension parts but they were too far gone and I have my white parts CE when I need to look at some white parts. Chassis is in very good shape. Mostly all new black parts with exception of rear bulkhhead and rear suspension mounts which are dyed. Front arms are RPM, rears are Andy's. Rear shocks are from RC10B4.1 as will be the fronts but need to dremel ever so slighly the lower frount ball mount area of front a-arm to fit stock RC104.1 ball end. Probably only need a millimeter or so.

Can someone confirm one thing, the MIP CVD kit #1007 is still 1/4 inch axle? I have some JS wheels I wish to use for this which requires 1/4".

The stock universals (6371) were shot.

Coming along nicely. New Pro Lines all around. What do you guys think for black shocks? At which point I will rename it Project Stealth . This is not an original anything so what are my options?

are those JC 2.2" wheels?

as far as black shocks, you have a few options, though some are tough to find.

MIP had black shock bodies.
I 'think' HPI makes black shocks
losi had black shock bodys at one point
you can strip yours and get them re-anodized.

I just thought of one other option that is really hard to find, but someone has been sticking them up on ebay recently: ayk pro radiant shocks are black, although they are not JET black, more like a very very dark blue.

Your buggy is looking very nice.

I like the simple non flashy look to the car. I have always been a fan of flat black paint on 1.1 cars.

Your build fits right into what I prefer. Lets see some outside pics.

ah....if you can make an rc10 out of all aftermarket parts, how much of a stretch is losi parts? after all....there is some bloodline there, no matter how bad it is/was......they are pretty smooth and have a 'stealth' look to them....and who doesn't use losi bellcranks on rc10's? hahhahhah

throw 'em on and see how they look....couldn't hurt, right?

Can I get a better shot of how you mounted the rear shocks...maybe a top down picture to show the angle of them? I have mine mounted in front of the tower, they have a very slight rake, but acceptable...I think...

I'll take one tonight but I can tell you they were the bolts and shock bushings straight from RC10B4.1.

Here you go, looks like I used RPM black 1/4 nut, RC10B4.1 bushing and another of same nut. Suspension works very smoothly and looks very stealthy.

are your arms mounted forward or back? maybe that is why mine doesnt fit behind the tower (I am mounted forward).

Forward I think, is there another option with this chassis? See pics. I also have a question, with the litesink motorplate does the motor guard just attach at chassis. That seems very fragile. Am I missing something?
