B4.1 transmission/ ball diff question

Post by civilguy »

I am building my first B4.1 kit since my gold pan days. It does not say what side to put the ball diff adjustment screw on. I'm guessing it will be easier to access on the spur gear side so I don't have to deal with the motor in the way.
Anyone have any suggestions otherwise? I'll be moving on to assembling the transmission tonight... answers or not. :D
Thanks!

Download the B4 manual and see if it says what side to run it on. I thought it had to be on a certain side.

Thanks... my phone just makes calls.
The B4.1 manual does not say which way.

Ok, follow up.... what color are the slipper pads? I think they may have been left out of my kit.
I'm looking in the other bags, but can't see them. I just put away a Creeper kit that I had to call customor support for missing pieces, so I figured I'd start this one while I waited for the mail. Ugh, so upsetting.

Thanks guys! They are definitely no where to be found. I'm going to build the rest of the kit before I fire off an email to AE, but at least this one won't hold up the build. On my Creeper I was missing one half of the gear diffs for BOTH axles, so I can't go any further.

That sux, sounds like quality control is an issue at the factories.

Apparently they don't make em like they used to.
I built a Creeper last spring and had zero issues. To Venom's credit within 24 hrs of my email the parts were on their way... they're in the mail now.
I just hope AE treats me as well. :?:

Not anymore, the slipper pads are now back to the old orange/tan material.

When the FT SC10 came out AE announced the V2 slipper. It's basically the same thing with different material for the pads. Much easier to get your slipper working right, IMO the white pads are junk.

on ALL properly designed 2wd (traditional ones, ie rear-mounted motor, 3G) the adjustement screw is on the right side :)

Thanks for all the feedback.
I have the adjustment on the right side. ;)
Regardless of the color of the pads, they still aren't here. I asked because I was trying to look in the other parts bags without opening them at the time. Like I mentioned, I will complete the build (probably this weekend) and then send AE an email with a missing parts list. Hopefully it's only the pads.
While I wait for those to arrive, hopefully my missing Creeper bits get here and I can go back to that build.
