So, I'm planning on coming up to run my New/Old RC10 and Hunter - assuming I ever finish gathering parts and actually get them together! - but I have a couple of quick questions.

On my Hunter, I was planning on ditching the wacky pogo sticks they called suspension and "upgrade" it to the (marginally) more functional Galaxy 4-shock system, with some generic oil shocks (I did this bitd with my first Hunter). Given that the Galaxy was no "racer" - would that be still cool to run in the Classics Class? (if it influences anything, I would also mention that I haven't driven on a track in several decades, so the car is the least of my challenges)

Any suggestions on tires that worked ok on the Classics cars (frogs, etc..) last year?

Also, just out of curiosity, not that I have one, but what is the rule on the Tamiya re-re cars like the Frog, etc... They clearly aren't vintage, but they are technologically vintage... I could see this going either way, and wanted to know if it had come up before.

the re-released classics are fine, i'd wager most of the cars racing in classics are re-re's.

from what i have read upgrading shocks is fine as well. we upgraded them back in the day so it's all good.

i may run my modded grasshopper in classics, it has the crp front end kit made for the futaba fx10.
(not that it will help at all, the rear ends on these cars kill them anyway. lol)

Go for it as far as adding shocks goes. If it was something that was capable of being done BITD, then it should be allowable.

The re-re's are allowed, due to the simple fact that they are still the original design. The only thing different about the new frog is the dogbone outdrives and the splined/pressed in front axles.

Tires that work: J concepts rounders in front, J concepts Double Dee's in the rear, both in the soft compound. They seem to work for every 2wd vehicle.

Just throwing this out there, please don't crucify me for it, how about a "Demo Class" for example, this year demo class would be "Mod 2wd Buggies" the next year could be "Mod Truck" so forth and so on, just throwing that out there....what do you guys think??

I would love to run my LX-T with a 10.5 brushless it loves it.

Well, we're doing 4wd as a "mod" class. Honestly I don't see 2wd (wasn't that what we did last year... all four of us lol) or trucks going much faster. What if we did one for cars that are a little more modern... like late 90's. It could include B2's, XX's, etc.

On a similar note I was thinking what if we did a super main. We did this at the 1/18 Nationals and it's always fun. Put the top 2 from each A main in a Super main and they all run together. Yes there's faster cars but there's also bigger ones and if anything was proven last year in Heavy Metal is was how much fun that was with mixed up trucks like that.

I should have specified a little better, how about having one "Demo" class with modern cars, that's what I was referring to, there are people who don't even show up to the VONATs cause they dont have a Vintage car, by having some of these guys with modern stuff show up, they might be persuaded to run a Vintage Car at next year's event.... just a thought... Just keep it simple and only one class each year...

So 4wd WILL be open motor? Only reason I ask is cause the rules at the top of the sheet still have 27T/17.5 as the motor limitation.

Oops! Well it's not open motor (unless I get back that this is what you all want instead), it will be 10.5. I think that's plenty fast for the track and anything faster and I'll have to include a free broom and dust pan with entries lol.
