Lipo Question
Hey guys, new to the lipo thing and had some questions. I have a rc10t3 with a 100amp esc and 5200kv motor. Lookin to get a 2s lipo. What kind of disharge rate and size (mah), should I be lookin for? Lookin for good run times. Thanks
Re: Lipo Question
mah is what determines runtime. more mah, the longer it lasts. a 30c 5000mah would do you just fine.

Re: Lipo Question
Cool Thanks guys. I've seen some that are like 8000mah. Is there any disadvantage to a batt of that size?

Re: Lipo Question
The size can cause fitment issues, also the additional weight. Just get a 5000 mah it will have plenty of run time for you.

Re: Lipo Question
K thanks. I just tried a 2s 30c 3600 that my buddy has and it only lasted like fifteen mins, not driven hard. Is this normal and how much more run time do u think I would get out of a 5000? Thanks

Re: Lipo Question
That sounds about right for a 3600mah/5200kv combo. You'd probably get another 30% to 40% of run time with a 5000mah battery. Also, the higher the C rating, the quicker your battery will run down.

Re: Lipo Question
With a smaller "c" rating? Yes but only a bit unless you are racing super stock 17.5 or 21.5 you won't notice the difference- and I am running SMC Sport Max packs in Mod, they are
28c and 4500 mah, and last 15min at full race pace with either the 8.5 or 10.5-

Re: Lipo Question
Generally, yes. Although that is why the battery would last longer.mainesrc10 wrote:Will the car run slower with a smaller discharge # though?
Think of it like a bucket of water (represnting the battery) with a hole (representing the C rating) drilled into the bottom. The bigger the hole, the faster water will drain out of it, and the faster the bucket will empty.

Re: Lipo Question
Racing or bashing the 30c is the middle of the road in the C rating right now, so it is nice and suitable for either- what motor are you going to run with it?

Re: Lipo Question
Ok, then a 30c pack will perform similar to a nice 10.5 ish, and a 65c will run like an 8.5-
