Tamiya Fox

Post by Halgar »

Hey guys, looking for rough value of a Fox. For those that don't know me, I'm a moderator over at Clodtalk. I asked this question there and got no response, hopefully you buggy guys can help. I happened to pick up a Fox at a garage sale a week ago, and at first glance thought it was just another POS Nikko (there were 3 other Nikkos in the box ) until someone identified it from this blurry pic as being a Fox. Anyway, I'm not a buggy person and don't intend to hang onto it so I've been looking for a value. I already know the whole "whatever someone will pay" thing, but that doesn't help set a starting price now does it? Ebay and Craigslist have been no help, nor have searches of sites like Tamiya Club. This pic is blurry and the car is not in great shape, I don't even know if it's complete as I've not had a chance to go through it. I will be cleaning it up before putting it on the block.

In case you were wondering why a non-buggy guy would have bought a box of buggy's (particularly Nikko buggies ), there was a HiLux chassis in the box and it was THAT which intrigued me. For the price I couldn't pass it up. I even went back the next day to see if more RC stuff had been found and picked up the radio for the truck for free.

Anyway, thanks for the help. When I have my camera back I'll post better pics and description of the vehicle condition.

Nice to see you over here on the "other" side.

I'm just looking for a chassis to restore my first RC car, my Fox. I think I've got all the other parts from bitd.

The thing on the fox is to see if the chassis is broke by the front bumper, if it is, it's not worth much as chassis's are hard to come by. But generally somewheere in the $50-$100 range. Make sure you clean it up good, a clean car sell bertter than a dirty one.

Good to know, thank you. I'll be out in the shop today, so I'll have a closer look to see what's up. The thing I'm hoping for with both the HiLux and the Fox is that the radios still work. The HiLux has a stick radio and the Fox has a Futaba Sport. The Sport is missing the antenna, well, not missing, it's just not attached to the radio. :?

Why does everyone keep saying that??? :? :?

:P :P :P :P :P

Yeah, I mentioned that the HiLux was the reason for buying the box of buggy's to begin with. Otherwise I'd have passed on the lot and been on my way. I won't say what I paid for the box of stuff (Hilux chassis which appears to be almost mint, Tyco hover craft, two Nikko buggies, and the Fox, two Futaba radios, oh, and a spare set of tires for the front of the Fox ), but if I can sell one of the Nikko's it would pay for all of it!

Are ya interested in one of the Nikko's?

I just went out and looked at the Fox. The kid pulled out all the screws that hold the top half of the chassis on and all the screws that hold in the electronics and "guts", but everything seems to be there and the chassis is in great shape. If it originally came with the driver figure, it no longer has that. The rear tires show signs of wear (knobs half worn ), no wear on front knobs or spare front tires. Minor scratches on undercarriage, but overall not in bad shape at all. This thing still has the MSC in it. The radio antenna was just unscrewed from the radio, apparently it was designed for removal (for travel/storage ) because there's a trough along the top of the radio that the antenna clips into. The only physical damage the radio has is the back corner is broken out, exposing the base of the antenna mount.
