My new RC10T

Post by 8rad »

I got my very first RC10 off Kijiji recently for a good price I think.

My first impressions are pretty good but I did notice a few things that dont look right. You RC10 guys probably have a better eye for this than me so here goes with the pics.

The drive shafts are riding pretty far out in the cups. Yes?
There should be spacers on the outer hinge pins yes?
Are these the correct 1 peice rims and tires that came with the team kit? (before they were painted pink)
What shock oil came with the kit?

this is just my $.02 but:
1. yes but are the dogbone springs in the cups? Might just be missing the springs there. Can't tell by the pix...
2. yes...if this was a gt. Thost look like gt rear arms go me and the gt needed spacers like you mention.
3. Dont know for a fact but I believe it should have the 3 piece rims on it. I'm sure someone will chime in here on this one...
4. I think almost all associated kits came with 30 weight shock oil part number #5422(?)
You got a nice lookin truck there any way you look at it. The wheels can be stripped pretty easily without harming. I'd use a little castrol super clean if you can still get that stuff around you. Soaked overnight and they would wipe clean pretty easily.

nice buy. wish i had a body for my 10t... its currently got a gt body rigged up lol, but everything looks good, like klavy said, the springs look to be missing outta the cups, mine sit out that far too. and the front tires on mine have 2 screws that hold them together, and the rears have 4 screws that hold them together. i dont know if theyre the right rims, but thats whats on mine

The drive shafts are in fact universals probably from a T2.
I think you guys are right about the wheels.
Yes the arms are GT/T2.

Otherwise it looks stock 10T.

I think I will bring it back to fully original. Narrow fronts are a must too.

Other than the pink paint it is a perfectly correct 7035 team truck, 2nd to last version- the rims are correct as are the universals and the tires, and the 3 deg rear toe blocks-

The dogbones are far out in the cups because of improperly restricted ( internal spacers ) shocks all the way around

Good to know! Thanks Reggie!

This may in fact be the last version because it has the graphite stealth brace. I guess I just need some spacers for the hub carriers and shocks and a good cleanup and I will have a nice shelfer?

Cheers

The spacers are internal to the shocks that limit the down travel - and the last version was all black

Well, now I am the proud owner. My JRX2/T collection is going to be very upset with this addition.

Hey Reggie, even the arms? My 7035 was all black according to info I got (I think from you) off this board but had the T arms I'm thinkin of like the early ones. I was under suspicion of the 3 pc rims because mine were robbed outta the kit by the seller along with the body but otherwise was pretty sure about the rest :?
Can't seem to find my thread about it anymore so it pry came way of the autopruner but anyway...

The original style arms that were molded in black composite with the thick webbing are what I think that you are referring to- That version ( 3rd to last ) would have had white 3 deg rear carriers and still should have come with the 1 piece rims and the Pro-90 minipin rear tires-

This one would be the best guess of the version as they were using up the remainder of the old parts, lots of the all black 10t v 7011 came with the same arms as this truck and the 7011 sport, 7035 team truck and the "all new" 7036 T2 were all in the same catalog dated 1994

Is the nose plate always a different color like that on these 7035 team trucks?

Seems that in later years AE got a little lazy with the heat treating, or the alloy composition- the A stamps and early B stamps were always jet black the late B's and the C's were a really dark purple most of the time-

I have never really noticed it with truck noses, but it fits the pattern

i actually think that has to do with the annodizing. we call that in the paintball world "blurple". ill have to see if i can find the discussion, but depending on both the content of the metal and the process you can come out with some very odd colors. personally ive had 2 things both supposed to be anno'd black, one came back pitch black really deep lookin. the other one looked black at one angle and purple at another...
