A Stamp Stealth Rebuild

Post by Kaiser Q »

I picked up what I thought was a CE to build a runner.Turned out it was a drilled out A stamp with Hot Tricks Steering and an Andy's bumper.

Since the bottom is so scratched I decided to strip it down bare aluminum and polish it.

I've removed the gold anodizing and sanded the parts with steel wool.Still have a lot more sanding and polishing to do.

I'm trying to get as many new parts as possible and run at the local track it with a 2s lipo/life & a LRP brushless.I've found 90% of what I need but would like to run B4 tires and wheels. So,I'm still doin some research.Probably go with B44 CVA's and B4 rear hubs and bearings(at least I think that's what will work).

I remember the hard work it took to polish my car's chassis after I used Easy-Off to pull the orange off..

Whew!

Elbow grease!

Keep up the good work!

Is your plan to re-anodize or powder coat or just leave it 'aluminum' color?
Wherever you go; there you are!

Thx!
You aint kiddin'! I spent all night Easter scrubbing away.I ordered these buffing pads that fit on my orbital sander. After I wet sand with some 1500 I'll hopefully use those to do most of the polishing.

I'm going to leave it aluminum.I remember wishing my gold pan was chrome when I was a kid.20 years later this is as close as I'm ever gonna get lol.

Ha thx I use that name a lot on RC forums.Sorry, didn't mean to sweat ya.

It's turning out to be a TON of work. The words "What the heck did I get myself involved in?" keep coming to mind.Hopefully the carpal tunnel will be worth it.
