Topcat vs. Baja 5T
Topcat vs. Baja 5T
Ok so I was at the local track today for a shake down of my 22 and I decided to bring my Topcat along for some vintage action. Another guy was bombing around with his giant Baja truck. I was trying to stay clear and do my own thing but I seemed to be having speed controller problems and the car stopped in an area with several large bumps after a large jump. Then I heard it coming down the straight. WHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII. Oh CRAP! He's coming I had better get out of the way. Squeezed the trigger.........nothing...........CRAP!

Ouch, so what all did he break? Body and the rear carbon fiber mount? Reminds me of a video i saw the other day 1:25 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5ETbzsUEnU. That was an awesome body too.
Re: Topcat vs. Baja 5T
So far it just looks like body, rear tower and tie-rod. But I have not looked into it further.
That rocket sled is awesome!

That is gonna leave a mark. I give you credit for having the stones to drive your car at a track, with other drivers around. Wishing you a speedy rebuild

Ouch! Really sorry to see this beautiful car marred like this.
The lexan in that shell should not have busted soo easily like that. Where did it come from?

Jason, the body is from your buddy. You refer to him as Ant. Is his name Anthony? I bought a few from him a few years back. The lexan in that shell should not have busted soo easily like that. Where did it come from?
It is kinda weird that the body shattered like that but the Baja 5 was coming of a large jump so it hit with tremendous force.
I was planning to powder coat the chassis and motor plate so now I have the perfect opportunity.
The guy offered to buy me a body but I declined. It was partially my fault anyway. I should not have been troubleshooting on the track.I also wish you a speedy reconstruction and asks the boy baja 5t pay you reconstruction.

Re: Topcat vs. Baja 5T
I remember when Ant was trying out a slightly different version of lexan. I cant remember exactly but I think it could have been PETG or something. Anyway there was some issues with this material and a Procat shell I also got at the time buggered up much the same way yours has.
I was a bit miffed with the material used as I even had a new genuine decal set applied to that shell.
I still have it somewhere to remind me of the time I ended up with an inferior quality product.

Re: Topcat vs. Baja 5T
Inferior indeed! This in no way makes me less grateful for Ant's hard work. When I bought these the were the only Topcat shells available in the world so I was very happy to have them.
Good for shelfers but not for racing.

Let the rebuild begin.
I just got the chassis back from powder coating. Orange may not be every ones cup of tea but I really like it.
Other things I will be adding while I am at it are a Novak Cyclone, Lunsford punishers all around, Reedy DH 12 turn triple, a new 3mm FG shock tower and of course new skin.
Gonna be awesome!
