Recently I am trying to rebuild my own Lazer ZX, & read through the manuals.
I noticed that there are several different types of rear drive hubs existing:
1./ a hollow space inside, fitted with a 4mm collar ---> which made it a centre ball diff, for ZX ??
2./ a hollow space inside, fitted with a one-way bearing (which placed in an opposite spinning direction with the centre front one-way bearing) ---> ?? what special function this combination is going to act ??
3./ solid hub with a set screw securing the center shaft ---> which made it a dual-pads slipper, for ZXR ??
4./ the latest single-pad slipper which is using in the ZX-S series
just want to ask which car they belonged to ??
thanks !!

Re: Question about Lazer ZX series
1./ a hollow space inside, fitted with a 4mm collar ---> which made it a centre ball diff, for ZX ?? The big white collar in the drive hub is what they are on about. The manual clearly shows you how to build it and the spur gear has twelve eight scale diff balls and diff plates and is clearly a third diff and works well on low grip tracks. I liked but a lot of drivers prefered the reverse one way hub.
2./ a hollow space inside, fitted with a one-way bearing (which placed in an opposite spinning direction with the centre front one-way bearing) ---> ?? what special function this combination is going to act ?? This stops you using reverse but you also gain a 50/50 drive train and on high grip surfaces is a must as standard kit format gives you a 60/40 layout and isnt so good on high grip.
3./ solid hub with a set screw securing the center shaft ---> which made it a dual-pads slipper, for ZXR ?? Just a slightly different design where the item is bolted to the layshaft. The item is behind the spur gear of the zxr mk1 series and us going into the gearbox.
4./ the latest single-pad slipper which is using in the ZX-S series. For the zxs and is a hyperclutch and is totally different from other models but does use the standard one way which sits directly above the rear of the motor and is identical to all zx/zxr models.
FYI I have redesigned the spur gear with an sc10 extra torque slipper pad hex cut into the spur and is a direct replacement of the current spur but if using the pads make sure you take the twelve diff balls out and use the diff plates. The spur is sold by rw racing in the uk.

Re: Question about Lazer ZX series
Well if you are running it on clay you may prefer the standard kit hub but im using the reverse one on my current car. The only down side to the zx slipper compared to the mark one zxr slipper is that its heavier and is a heavier rotating mass so more heat is being dissapated around the gearbox.
