I have a feeling Action RC Mini Speedway closed down. When I drove past last week I noticed the sign was removed from the building and checking now their website is down. Not surprising if they are closed as I'd expect that would be the eventual fate of any track on SI.

Property value is too high on SI, and any still empty lot large enough to host a track is either owned by the City/State or owned by a developer waiting for the housing market to bounce back. You may find some one to rent you space but it'll be costly...and even if you can get the racers to come and cover the cost the landlord is likely to notice the business you're doing and jack up your rent.

From what little I know about it, Brownies had the track behind the shop years ago but I didn't discover that until last year....I never got the chance to race there. The VTA and Mini-Cooper club races at Midland Beach seem active and I'm going to try and check them out this summer.

For off-road racing I think you have to go to Jersey though.

hmmm, maybe we need a track on SI then. got me thinking now.
I didnt even know brownies had a track in their backyard, i thought it was just at midland from what i read on the link from kaiser.
i went to a couple shops in jersey over the past month, and nobody knew any. shame.
where was action speedway?

Action is/was on Arthur Kill Rd by the Outerbridge.

It'd be nice to get a public track put in at the park their building on Arthur Kill near Richmond Ave. but I doubt the city would go for it or, if they did, maintain it. Even better would be to turn that waste of a mini-golf course/batting cage/go-kart track on the corner of Richmon Ave. into a RC track. Could race 1/8 nitro TC or maybe even Pro 10 on the go-kart track and tear up the mini-golf for a dirt track. I was told that's city property too though.

Some more news about the park from a couple weeks ago:

Seems like nothing has been set in stone yet for the area. If they'd consider a skate park maybe an RC track wouldn't be out of the question.

Posted the idea in the Brownies thread on RCTech.com to see if we can get more people interested in turning the Safari Park into an RC track.

But a skate park? Why would they open another skate park when they just closed the one on father cap?

Another article from last year saying that the Skate park was already being designed.

Nope. I just got interested in RC again last year and I don't race anywhere.

Appears I was wrong about the mini track on SI and they're still open.

Saw your post on rctech. It's beating a dead horse, looks like it up to us.
Typical SI

Anyway, Looks like I'm in the market for a mini z now, not much of an on road guy but I'm sure it would be fun to race anything something. Going to check it out wed 4/4.
