Anyway, I have always liked these Kyosho "flexy-arm" buggies, so when the opportunity came up to trade a disused Tamiya Fire Dragon for one, I jumped on it.
What I got was actually almost two cars:
Including one original working Cox Cadet radio system, one broken Airtronics SR2, two sets of wheels and tires, a Novak 4 ESC that kinda-sorta works, and an extra tub, transmission, front clip, and suspension arms. One set of tires is almost new, and one front bumper actually is new, and there's a good enough one of everything to make one really decent car.
Here's the rolling chassis after a teardown, cleaning, and rebuild, with a full set of bearings:
The tires that are on it are going to be used for running, and the nice ones will get raised white letters (and maybe silver wheels, since the plastic is yellowed) for the shelf. It's now up and running, with a Duratrax ESC and a Tamiya Sport-Tuned motor. Very fun little car to drive. Body is a work-in-progress; the original paint is coming off nicely with brake fluid, but it's so oddly shaped that it's taking forever to get paint out of all the nooks and crannies. But it's in good shape, with no cracks, so it should repaint well.
I know, I know; restoring one of these is kind of like restoring a Plymouth Horizon, but I don't care. I like it.
