A.R.T. Agitator 12 Resto

Post by Phin »

At least I think it's an Advanced Racing Tech. Agitator 12....still not 100% sure. :P

The chassis is a different design from the 1/12th Agitators I've seen pictures of on the internet but it's definitely not hand cut and was built for an Agitator's suspension. Maybe it's a later model Agitator 12 or maybe it's a clone but either way I'm very happy with my first 12th scale pan car.

Well to be honest it's actually mostly not hand cut...the screw holes for the two posts in the middle, which I'm guessing were a makeshift battery hold down, and the two smallest slots under those posts are not part of the original chassis and were sloppily done by a previous owner. Also the right rear pod is filed a bit but from an article I read that was something that had to be done to make room for the motor. The original shock is incomplete but it would've been replaced with something modern anyway. Other than those things wear is minor and all the important bits are in great shape.

First step will be to tear it down clean it up, polish the aluminum, and rebuild it with new screws/hardware. From there I will look to modernize it a bit with a new rear axle + diff (uses the old style where the diff comes apart when you change the wheels), brushless + lipo, and maybe a damper tube on the rear pod.

Unlike my RC10L project, which I've completely stalled on, there isn't much I want to modify on this car so it should move along at a quicker pace. :D

Yep, you got yourself an Agitator XII, and from the looks of it someone may have made their own chassis, which is neat in itself. If you need a Delta Shock to keep it period correct let me know as the Original Damper was nothing more than a glorified Dampner tube with a Spring (Yokomo did it with the YRX 10 years later too). Andy's still makes the 1:12 Sauber which would great on there.
