Associated NiCd fast charger

Post by V12 »

I have seen an old Associated charger #6772 NiCd fast charger what was timercontrolled so something of an early type. This charger could be found at the Associated 1988 catalogue but I think it could be older than that but I have not found anything other than that. The picture is black/white but in reality the faceplate is golden colour.
Someone knows when this charger was released?

I've got this advert for what looks like an earlier version of that charger, the dial times are different and it's product number is #3772. Advert is from 1981

I own that very charger. It was included with my Frog for Christmas, but I don't recall the exact year, mayber 1983-84 ish.

I will try to get a picture of it tonight.

I have a 3772 (4/6 cells and silver face plate) that I my brother used for his frog in 1982. I also have a 6772 (6/7 cells and a champagne-gold face plate) that I got to charge my 7 cell Super Champ battery in about 1983/early 1984 (actually before the RC10 was released). Note the champagne (aka "light")gold color to the face plate is exactly the same as that of the chassis on my early Edinger cars..coincidence? I don't really think so. 8)

Yep have that same AE Charger from way back when. Even have the original box it came in... now to find it in the basement lol! Might not have survived the big move to the new house years back though :-(

I stopped using mine as soon as the first Peak chargers came out (can't recall the name, it was a small black with white stripe and a big square heat sink on the corner).

Thanks for showing the 3772 charger, I wasn´t aware of this one.

Regarding the 6772 with the golden faceplate I also thought it looks a little like the RC10 goldtube chassis and could be about same age. But I didn´t found anything on date what did make sense.

Can't believe I managed to find my old charger.... used to use this back in the 80's for my Tamiya Boomerang at GM Raceway:

I used to use it later just as a basic discharger. Still works but not quite up to a Pro-Peak etc from the era.
