First RC10 rebuild runner

Post by Mike DeLaney »

I have started with a gold A tub and 6 gear trans. RPM front arms and haven't on the rears yet. I have polished the front kick up supports and wing post.

It is, the bottom and front were scratched up pretty good. I decided to paint it. I know the paint won't last but at least the car will good for a little bit.

Mike that looks great. I like the kind of smokey look of your pics. Also like the polished tubes. Did you do that on a lathe?

I had brought a very early delta unisaw to a powder coater that recommended instead a baked on type of epoxy paint. It has been incredibly tough stuff. And it was cheep $400 bucks for the hole job including the sand blasting ( not to say that these chassis should or would be sand blasted). But that was for a whole table underside, cabinet, and plinth (about 60sqft).

If a bunch were to go in on one run could make sense.

I have two other chassis that could use the treatment. That super pricy mip 4wd conversion that's currently up on the bay has given me a hankering for competition orange. :D

I used 400 grit sandpaper, then polished by hand. The polish is called simichrome.

I usually chuck them up in a high speed drill and use 600 grit sand paper then never dull metal polish.

Great looking car so far Mike. I really like the smoke grey metallic chassis/nose/motor plate. We are "somewhat" local, so when you get that thing ready to run, LMK. I got an Ultima Pro I'm dying to run with/against an RC10. :D

That would be cool, but if it is the car in your avatar I think you will have upper hand!

I have made some progrees on the buggy build. The shocks have been cleaned up and rebuilt. After reading how to make the 6 gear trans smoother, I want to take this one back apart and clean up the gears better. I will be running the tires and wheels shown. I believe they are from a CE kit.
