shorty pack
Was at my local track checking things out w my son. Tallied w the owner and he recommended a "shorty pack" so i could move the battery forward to handle the F/R weight ratio. What do you guys think and what kind?

Re: shorty pack
I recently purchased a couple of packs for my OIN 17.5 car. The first of these is the new Peak Performance pack (4000ma, 90C). Around $70, and seems to run fine. I feel that it performs better after a few warm up laps. I assume this is the case because the battery warms slightly, reducing it's internal resistance. I cannot say that it performs any better than the cheap gens ace packs that I have had for a couple of years now though. Second is the A-Main hobbies shorties that I just picked up (4300mah, 100C). Have run them twice and feel they perform better, and are more consistent than the Peak packs. Just a side note, I believe the A-Main packs are made by Intellect, who can be easily fond on e-bay should you be so inclined. One thing I can say however, is that none of the new shorties felt like they produced more power than the cheap Gens Ace packs I purchased two years ago. Now I have run a pack that I really liked, and it was an A-Main full size "light weight" pack. I believe they are called "ultra stock" or something to that effect. 100g lighter than your average full size pack, have better power than any of my current packs, and are around $50. Unfortunatelly A-Main is out of them at the moment.
