KO EX 11 Presto Memory Error
Hello All, I have recently acquired a KO EX 11 Presto. It seems to have a problem. Every time I switch it on I get a memory error. Though I can get the radio to function by pressing the + and - buttons at the same time. It seems that some of the functions are missing. Does any one know how to correct this? Maybe this radio has a battery back up in it that may need replacing? Any ideas?

Re: KO EX 11 Presto Memory Error
Had a similar memory error pop up on my ex10 once and turned out to be semi saved or corrupt model profile, reset the offending profile and was fine after that. Might be worth seeing if you can reset the units model memory?
Also re functions missing are you on the master menu or is it possible a custom menu is selected where some options have been removed by choice?

Re: KO EX 11 Presto Memory Error
Hello rc10uk, Thanks for the response. I tried all 3 profiles and it will create the same error with all of them. I would like to reset the model memory but I cannot find that function in the manual. I bet that would an easy fix for this problem. If there is a way to reset the model memory I would really like to know how to do this.

Re: KO EX 11 Presto Memory Error
Well I contacted KO USA. It seems that there is no reset function in the radio.

Re: KO EX 11 Presto Memory Error
I had the same problem with my Mars.
Whenever a pulled the batteries out I lost the model memory. I think there is a memory backup battery like a watch battery in the radio which powers the memory chip. If so replace it . I'm not 100% sure on this as it was over 10 yrs ago.

Re: KO EX 11 Presto Memory Error
I took the radio apart and this model has no battery back up. The model memory half works. Every time I turn on the radio I get a memory error that I can turn off. The funny thing is that the setting are still there. I can change things and turn off the radio and the changes are still there when I turn the radio back on. I found the memory module and look up the data sheet and it seems that the module has a limited life for around 200 000 cycles. It is a very small smt component so I can see it having ESD damage. I think that that is what is wrong with the memory. I need to get a new module to see if it is true.
