garbage dust covers
hello, I tried to build a vacuum former a make my own dust covers with plastic garbages.
first try with clear plastic:
Second try with a heavy duty plastic can (it's now installed on my runner).
Well, it's not fantastic, but it was fun to do.

Re: garbage dust covers
back in the day, i took 2 liter soda bottles, sliced the tops and edges off, and cut it down the middle and rolled it out flat, heated it, and that plastic worked really well and was sturdy as hell

Re: garbage dust covers
Yes, it's home made. I drill holes in the black plastic box,and plugged the vacuum hose in. i made a mold of the dust cover in plaster. Then I heated a plastic sheet on a stove, apply it on the mold, an put the vaccum on.
Sorry for the bad english...

Re: garbage dust covers
My mold is made of stone hard dental plaster. It's a very very hard material (hard to scuf with a knife).

Re: garbage dust covers
Make the plastic melt, put it on the vacuum box with the master mold and start your vacuum cleaner, let it set and you're done

Re: garbage dust covers
I got it now. On my screen the black box is so dark that I could not net see the holes. I opened it up in a photo software and brightened it a bit... Now I understand!

Re: garbage dust covers
That's sharp. You will get better results with lexan. Tower sells small sheets or you could by 4x8 sheets. I spent $150 American for 2 sheets shipped. Lots of fun to had there. Now to just get it all set back up again.

Re: garbage dust covers
No, and that's why the result is not excellent. I must do a hollow mold with thin holes in the edges.templeofspeed wrote:Did you put any vent holes in the plaster mould?
