Motor plate dust covers- part #1987 & #1988

Post by R6cowboy »

I'm searching for motor plate dust covers for both my Blue Eagle and SRT. The Traxxas parts lists for both trucks indicate dust cover part #1987. While searching I'm also finding dust cover part #1988, which all have been clear. And the #1987 dust covers have been either white or black.
My question is, are both part #'s physically the same covers, and the only difference between them are the colors?

Well I know when the 272 "Magnum" trans first came out (case with two piece aluminum motor plate/guard) the upgrade kits had the clear lexan cover, I think the subsequent full kit releases switched over to the molded nylon cover. I would think as long as they both have a 19XX prefix, they would both be compatible with the Blue Eagle/SRT style motor plate, with the color being the only difference as a running production change. The clear 1988 would fit but be more appropriate for a period correct early Blue Eagle build.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

This is reassuring. After closely looking at many different pictures of the dust covers, that was exactly my assumption. Therefore, ordered two clear #1988 dust covers simply because I prefer the look of clear covers so the pinion & spur are visible.
Really appreciate the response, thanks.
