B&W Stealth RC10CE

Post by sandkil »

First of all i want to thank everyone on this forum for there expertise, kind words, help and in some cases even criticism.
I've learned alot, but still eons to pass in knowledge when it comes to this hobby..... (Hobby? i'm starting to live and breathe this "thing")
Typing is not my strongest gift in life so i apologize if anyone have taken my comments the wrong way. That was/is not my intention.
With that said:
This is the latest find. the car has never been run, only built for display in a now closed down hobby shop.
My intention is to strip it down, clean it up and place it on the shelf.
I'll put up some new photos when the restoration is done.

Best regards:
Erik

Nice!
Why even bother stripping it down?

If only a shelf queen, I'd leave it as is and build another one to play with. I love the period correct setup in it as well!

I agree, that was my point.
It's a time capsule! You should probably either leave it alone or sell it.

what's wrong with tearing it down and cleaning it up? do you think it doesn't need it just because it's never been used?

diff grease goes bad, shock seals can go bad. it's a bushing car so if they were oiled when installed, i'm sure it weeped out and has been attracting dirt for years. same goes for shock oil. you can also add the fact that a lot of people suck at building r/c cars. things usually need to be fixed/done correctly.

Well I had a good weekend all alone, so I got a whole lot done on this one.
There is a few parts missing, as servo mounts and gear cover, but they are on the way.

Now that is some yummy vintage goodness. Did you have to use anything to whiten up the parts. Even unused parts will get dingy

Thank you very much Shodog :)
I have only used simple green and hot water on the plastic.
The tires are a bit aged, but otherwise it's in really good shape.

When I saw the original pictures I didn't think it could look any better. I was wrong.
