Works 91/93 'standard' rims

Post by flustorm99 »

Hi, i have recently rebuilt my works 91 and 93 cars. Looking at the manual the front and rear hubs 'seem' to be the same size,( i am using the suzuki hubs instead) and the rims seem to be the same offset for front and back in the manual ( i am using the JC racing wheels) but the rear width comes in roughly 1cm less then the front? So do the original cars have different size hubs? Different offset on the rear wheels? Or a combination of both. Thanks for any help.

Sorry i blame my dementia...:) so that would mean the jc racing wheels probably represent the standard wheels that came with the 91/93 the ? Ie no offsets? The 91 has hubs with and offset towards the chassis hmmm i have to look at my hubs again...do u have a pic of one by any chance? U just mean a thinner hub right?

Here is a pic with 870C hubs, 3.5 mm hubs, and works 93 hubs ( from left to right).. 870C has two sizes for the front and rear and the works 93 has the same sizes for both..

Hmmmm i wonder what is going on with my 93 then ? All the arms look stock but i am sure the rear is still not as wide as the front? And i use the suzuki hubs which like the 93 ones all look the same size? Stickboy007 did mention the 91's were different sizes so that makes sense... Do u know if the 93 rims r offset at all? I guess they shouldnt be if the hubs r al the same? Thanks for the pics! Are they front white andys arms?

I am quite certain the blue suzuki hubs have different sizes for front and rear (I have several sets of these). Can you post pictures of your suzuki hubs? Maybe you have two sets of front hubs (or rear hubs)...

Looking at my manual regarding the stock hubs for the Works 93 they are all the same.. As for the wheels the offset looks like they are the same on the outside for my wheels that I have for my Works 93 (2.1" white).. I also looked at my Amark (2.2") wheels and they look the same as well.. I don't have the Suzuki hubs (although I do want some for another build) so I defer to stickboy007 on those..

works91 & 93 both front & rear are same, they are thin than 870C and yz10
team suzuki has released the blue hub for works91 93,part number is TS-2, one pair adapter in a pack not as 4. I think it is very rare.I have one set in my collections.

That is very interesting, because the factory stock works '91 wheel hubs are different sizes front and rear, while the '93 hubs are the same front and rear. Why would Suzuki make one "pair" of hubs for both of them?

From recollection, the Works 91 share the same rear hubs as the works 93, the front are the same as the YZ 10 long suspension arm hubs. The works 91 instructions also called for small o rings to be placed over the drive shaft prior to fitting the hubs.

I can't remember if this was for both the front and rear or just the front.

I am not confirm that pair of hubs are front or rear because it still new in pack. I collectting suzuki yokomo yz10 option parts, still sorting the TCS clutch main shaft for losi hydra drive.I have some unusual parts, next time will share some pictures.

Hey Sticky, you were right, the suzuki hubs are different front and rear...i put the wider ones on the rear and this helped with the width...i had the all ass about. Didnt even notice as i assumed they were all the same. Also i have managed to buy 2 sets and 1 set has a reverse thread and the other is normal...anyway all better now! Thanks again.

;)

At least for the Suzuki hubs that I have (five sets), two will always have a reverse thread. I think the idea is that all of the wheel nuts that screw onto the hubs loosen or tighten in the same wheel rotational direction. For example, I have mine installed such that, on both sides of the chassis, I tighten by turning the nuts toward the rear of the chassis (clockwise on the left, counterclockwise on the right) and loosen by turning them toward the front of the chassis. If I'm honest, I'm not sure if they should be installed that way or the other way around. I figured to do it that way, because when you hit the throttle, the wheel rotates forward and the itty bitty amount of inertia that the nuts have will, if anything, tighten them further, thus preventing them from loosening up (although you can make the opposite argument for what happens under braking, but you are on the throttle more than you are on the brakes).
