Rebuilding a B2
Just figured I'd share a couple pics of my #9000 B2 racer rebuild project. Nothing too crazy, just trying to fix her up a bit. I've had the car for a year or so, it was a mess, the previous owner had all kinds of weight glued into the front and rear of the chassis, effectively running it. I was able to score a NIP #9200 standard length chassis for it, also a new rear chassis plate and motor plate. Everything else on the car is pretty much what it came with, used. I've cleaned the transmission gears, rebuilt the ball diff with new parts and have installed new bearings. cleaned all the chassis components, replaced all the e-clips and have started reassembly. The original body isn't too bad, just have too remove some extra stickers off it to clean it up a bit, I do have a brand new body for it as well.
I have the original wheels, but they are a little beat up and the tires are a little dry rotted. What other wheels will fit this car? I would like to stay with yellow and I cant seem to find new originals anywhere, I was thinking maybe B4 wheels?

To get wheels with that amount of dish, you'll need Worlds re-release wheels. They work fine as long as you use the axle pin, and not a hex. I pulled the hex off my B5M and run the re-release wheels. The rears are part # 6805Y, fronts are 9688.

Re: Rebuilding a B2
the fronts from the re-re worlds are essentially b4 and won't have the same offset as the original B2. I'd keep my eyes peeled for sets on ebay, they show up from time to time. The rears will work just fine.
you can scrub them up really good with dish soap or simple green, and maybe try polishing them, but it depends on how much effort you want to put forth.
on a B2, you can run these:

and then you can run the re-re worlds (b4) front wheels.
or jump on these:

Re: Rebuilding a B2
Thanks for the info and the links. I grabbed that set of proline front wheels for now, hopefully a rear set will pop up.
My original intentions were to fix this buggy up and sell it, I have no idea what a B2 is even worth, but now that I'm into the project, I think I'll probably keep it when I'm done. I have a couple other cars in my fleet, A stamp gold pan, A stamp CE 6-gear, C stamp late black stealth CE, RC10T , plus a rc10 classic and worlds car re-re.

Re: Rebuilding a B2
Thanks, I think I'll hang onto it for awhile.
I finally found the rest of the Lunsford turnbuckles the car came with, so now they all match atleast.

If someone didn't read your first post, they'd think your car just came out of the box, it looks so new.

Re: Rebuilding a B2
That is a B3 rear plate, but nice to see a proper B2 top plate on it! I bet that chassis is B3 also with the small holes for mounting a sway bar! Nice clean build though!

Re: Rebuilding a B2
Yes, the rear plate is a B2 / B3 plate, that's the only one I could find. I might even just repaint the original piece, it's not scuffed real bad, just all the anodizing is rubbed off.
The chassis is, however a real B2 chassis, was brand new in package, was almost a shame to use it, but it definitely does not have holes for a sway bar.

Re: Rebuilding a B2
I sanded the scuffs out of the front plate, it's not perfect, but it will do. I just painted it with some satin rustoleum paint. I would have liked to replace the little plastic bumper, but the only ones I can find they want $30 for.
Maybe I'll clean up and repaint the rear plate, just to keep it more original.

Re: Rebuilding a B2
So I decided to stick with the original B2 rear plate, sanded it a little and repainted it, it's not perfect, but it's original and looks fairly OK I guess. Got the shocks all rebuilt, fronts installed and all the pesky little white foams on the ball studs. I'm waiting on some hardware so I can finish mounting the transmission, rer tower, shocks, etc.

Re: Rebuilding a B2
I'm having fun bringing this old B2 back to life. I should have taken some picks before I took it apart, well, what was intact anyways, the rest was in a sandwich bag....lol
So it's finally getting there, was able to get the transmission mounted, new shock tower, the mip cvd's the car came with, the totally rebuilt shocks w/ new springs, etc.
