Old Turbo Rocky worth anything?
Old Turbo Rocky worth anything?
I have and old Turbo Rocky Stored away att home. Built it with my father probably driven less than 10 times.
Now Im wondering if there is any value in the car. It would be great to sell it to an enthusiast. So that maybe I could get some pictures of it racing. If I keep it, it will just stay under my bed.
Adding some pictures of the car, I think its in quite good shape.
I have the radio for the car, but I dont think that is interesting. The box for the car its lost. I also have a special charger for the accumulator that was quite expensive. (Probably worth nothing now.)
I can send more pictures of the car if needed.

It's great that you want to restore this car, and this forum really is the right place for that. To restore the car, you don't need to know the value of it. You also have to understand we have a 25 meaningful posts rule before you can gain access to the trading section, so better start showing us your restoration process!
Re: Old Turbo Rocky worth anything?
Sorry I dont have any time to restore it, or the interest. I just wanted to know if there was any value in the car. If not its going in the trash or I could send it to anyone interested. The reason posting on this forum was that the was maybe someone interested, that was willing to share some pictures when the car was restored.

Everything has some amount of value. The best thing you could do is put it up on ebay with a .99 cent opening bid and let it ride.
We do frown upon these kind of threads outside of our b/s/t though. But if you just want it out of your house, i'll give you my address.

The shocks alone are worth 40 to 50 USD! Put that thing on Ebay!

Re: Old Turbo Rocky worth anything?
Sorry for causing problems, I dont have enougth posts to see buy sell forum. Will put it up on ebay.
Why are the shocks worth this much? I actually remembered when we assembled them. There were some plastic spacers in the middle with holes in them. These are holes that controll the flow of oil. Im not sure but I think you could put in different spacers to get different dampening.
I was told when we bought the car that the electric motor was built with sliding bearings and that was at the time the best motor for indoor racing because ball bearings where not allowed. Was this correct?
Well see, maybe I find time so fix it. I dont think there are any real problems. Clean it, new oil in the gearboxes and a new accumulator it should be good to go.

he isn't kidding...he is a closet kyosho hoarder disguising his collection with all these associated rc10 cars

Peace and professionlism.....Kabunga signing off!!!
Re: Old Turbo Rocky worth anything?
Ok thanks for the motor info, wasnt the gold or silver motors? I think the same motor but with bearings was a gold motor.
I assume I should change oil in the dampers if I fix it. Can I use standard oils for rc cars or do I need special oils for older cars? Then I should buy transmission oil and new shock oil.
Same with the battery/acc? Just buy standard of the shelf with correct voltage?
Or shouldnt I fix anything? Will it lower the price if I decide to ebay it? I was thinking that if it is in working condition it would be worth more? And it could be fun to get it running again.

Re: Old Turbo Rocky worth anything?
The only one I know of is the Lazer ZX-5 (ReadySet), but the bore is the same as Gold shocks AFAIK.
Unless Tamiyadan means the various on- and offroad cars that used the black/silver sports shocks, but none of those were really top-end IMHO.

Didn't gold shocks come out before platinum? Golds were on the Turbo Optima/Ultima...plats came on one of the Mids.
