My track rat build is progessing

Post by dabigboy »

My first attempt at painting a lexan body didn't go entirely as planned. Fortunately it was the dingy and slightly torn body that came with the car. Looks like the original owner trimmed the body (with tin snips, it would seem....) but never painted or mounted it.

It's starting to look like a buggy again. I rebuilt the shocks, but found out one is leaking. Already had spare O-rings on order, hopefully that's all it will need.

Since this is my first RC10, I decided to keep it pretty much stock. The only aftermarket/upgrade stuff will be:

- New brushless motor/ESC setup
- Modern 2.4g radio
- Bearing-mounted steering cranks using the 6254 kit (thanks to a tip from a board member here)
- JConcepts wheels & tires
- Bolink "Super Speedway" wing
- Wheel bearings
- Battery cup relocated and trimmed for conventional "stick" batteries

I may order a new body to replaced this sketchy one. I touched up the trimming best I could, but the PO cut away a lot of material. The aluminum wing pictured was more of a "because I could" project, but I might mount it and run it when just bashing in the backyard. It goes along with the grungy "patina" of this buggy. Anyways, I'm having a lot of fun with it, already thinking about my next build...........

Matt
