How We Build A Track In New Zealand

Post by tizeye »

Here are some pictures of an off road track that we have been building. It's about 6 miles out of town on farm land over looking the Pacific Ocean. Anyway we've been lucky enough to have access to some heavy machinery, and a huge pile of dirt and clay from a local council drainage project. It's taken many weekends to get the track to the stage that it's at. We are holding reginal championships on it at the beginning of next month so it's all hands on deck every chance we get.

I just sold my 1/8th scale truggy because I had no where to run it...then the guys go and build this..all is not lost I'm taking a couple of my RC10's to the big meeting and intend doing a lunch time demo..a kind of this is where your hobby started sort of thing..

Compared to some parts of the USA it is mild here..I live in the coldest part and we might get snow maybe 3 times a year..and it never stays on the ground long. Temp range between 55 in the winter to in the 80's in the summer..you would like it here..

The view from the drivers stand (top of shipping container) is amazing ... I will get some pictures..

Very nice track and background as Charlie said. I would hate to come up short on that big triple in the back.

Yep a few of the guys had a run on it and it's tricky..very technical through the middle and fast on the outsides..and the tripple is a bitch...two guys bent their driveshafts impacting the third hump on the wrong angle..

We had a work day to finish things off before the big meeting..one of the guys took his buggy out for a run..I think the jumps may need some work.. yes that is a car. .they might have to issue the marshalls with hard hats...
