Hi Folks!

Post by DanDM »

Happy New Year folks!
I'm based in the UK.
My RC story started in my early teens back in the 80's at school with a Sand Scorcher. Spent some years at school racing others, modding, buying and selling. Ended up wit lots of cars, electric and IC and have a few old photos of a small selection which I'll link below together with my latest aquisitions. The PB Alpha was epic and the Yankee an absolute brute. Raced most classes back in the day all over UK.
Sold everything eventually, but about 3 years ago after decades out got a couple of X-Ray XB4's. What a shock that was. Fair to say battery tech has moved on a little from the 80's!!
It also got me rather nostalgic for the olden days and I ended up with a 1979 Tamiya Rough Rider off ebay, NOS which I've kept stored since. I'd love to build it but it seems a waste and at some point I may get a re-re to scratch the build itch. I have to say the RR took me straight back to my teens even the way the kit smells. Crazy. I have been toying with letting the RR go as I'll never build it but am undecided.
Nice to be back into RC in my early 50's!

Hi Dan and welcome aboard.

The Sand Scorcher was one my first surface RC's. I recall seeing it on the cover of a Tower Hobbies catalog as it was a new release at the time and I couldn't resist. I sold it ages ago but I'd like to find another one to keep this time.

Welcome aboard! Loved the pics btw and thank you for sharing. Same thing happened to me earlier in 2020, found myself jumping back in after years away and this is the first place I went, lots of knowledge, experience and support here.

Enjoy!
I come for the RC10's but stay for the Yokomo's :P
