I'm Mr. Lexan Jr.

Post by asashaw »

Ok probably not! I am sure 20 bodies doesn't make me Mr. Lexan Jr. or even Mr. Lexan the Third, but I had to sort things out because of recent sales of my Protech II's on ebay, so I took a picture. None of them are the new copies... What do you guys think an "original" protech single seater should go for? I may list some of them next. Thanks for the help.

$12.99 is what they should go for.

I listed an original protech shortly after the release of the new china molded ones. My Ebay listing was complete with pictures and comparisons of the old and new and started at under $20. I got no bids.
I've since seen the new version, which is $13 at tower and readily available, sell for over $20.

as with anything else, they are worth what the market will bear, and it is hightly dependent on who is looking for that item at any given time.

If they are in fact being discontinued as Erich stated in another thread, give them a few months and they should fetch $50 or more. Or you can send them to me and I'll paint them box art style and we can split the profits

Someone should email them to ask. They are usually helpful. I just emailed them on another issue and don't want to seem like I am pestering them.

They are talking about the old Protech I, with non straight netting, before they send the molds to China, ad a protective film and change the netting pattern to straight lines...

Tower still ships the newer style Protech I, but the Sidewinder is also discontinued...

Call them up. I think Cliff Letts extension is 224 or 227. He is a great guy to talk to. I have discussed these bodies with him on a few times. And have several emails from the Big "C". They are great guys and put their pants on just like the rest of us. OK, so they are legends and that is a bit intimidating. They are still very much accessible. I think that is one of the things that makes them such a great company. Novak is the same way. Those guys won't hesitate to help with anything.

I hope I am not putting Erich on the spot here. But he mentioned in another thread that Associated was discontinuing anything prior to B3/T3. Maybe he will chime in and give us some news. He knows those guys very well.

He'd be like "Tad who? Oh, that is the loser that kept trying to buy our molds last year. Didn't we take a restraint order out on him?"

He won't know Tad, I used my real name. My real name is Asa Shaw...
