Factory Team shocks for T4 team build
Looking for any help sourcing factory team shocks for a T4 team truck build. Can be either the old 1.02" front and 1.39" rear shocks or the most recent 12x27.5mm and 12x36mm shocks. Is there anywhere FT shock kits can be bought? Or is the only way to get FT shocks is to piece them together buying every piece separately? I checked purchasing the T6.3 shocks piece by piece and the cost comes out to $177 before tax and shipping
And what the heck is up with AE discontinuing big bore shock kits, which they still sell with many of their kits?

Go on ebay and look up the shocks for the AE Trophy Rat.
They have smooth bodies but still look nice.
If you want threaded bodies on a budget, look at the AE MT10 bodies. They are composite but seem well made.
I just used a set on this build, with different shafts and springs.

Re: Factory Team shocks for T4 team build
I couldn't afford them but I found them here
https://www.thobbies.com/products/associated-7583?_pos=2&_sid=da61a74e7&_ss=r
https://www.thobbies.com/products/associated-7581?_pos=1&_sid=e49122451&_ss=r
Front and rear team sets at MSRP 55 rear 50$ front
Used sets on ebay are only about $5-10 cheaper
For my recent project I used v1 threaded bodies and found the 1.39" threaded bodies for less than 1.32
If you just use existing hardware then it's about $ 45.
If you need most of the parts the shock sets are a better deal.
Once I got all the other pieces together I did not save much money off the price of the sets above.
$25 rear shock body https://www.valkyriercmotorsports.com/store/p279 /Associated_1.39%22_Hard_Threaded_Shock_Body_Factory_%282%29_7412.html
17$ also found 1.02 from ???
$6 rear shock shaft https://www.amainhobbies.com/team-associated-3x35mm-shock-shaft-2-asc91490/p-qeaetqtqhzzxactz
$6 front shock shaft https://www.amainhobbies.com/team-associated-3x27.5mm-rear-shock-shaft-2-asc91489/p-quqzt2rqbzzxactz
$10 end cap x4 (NOT BLEEDER CAPS) https://beachrc.com/team-associated-end-cap-plastic/
$6 shock ends https://beachrc.com/team-associated-b6-shock-eyelets/
$ 3 red orings
$ 5 retainer cups ???
That's about 78$ for both sets, they are only v1 shocks and require the internal shock clips and some parts are ??? Shipping and handling will send this way over the top.

Re: Factory Team shocks for T4 team build
Much thanks for those links JosephS. Part #7476 1.02 shock kit (front) and part #7482 1.39 shock kit (rear) are ordered.
Wasn't looking for "budget" shocks, I really wanted a genuine set of factory team shocks (whether it be V1, V2, big bore) for this truck build. Just wasn't looking forward to spending almost $200 on shocks, which was the case parting the shocks together sourcing from AE and ebay.

Good on you! I was looking at those links for months. Those were just out of budget for me. Can't wait to see your build pictures.R6cowboy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 12:55 pm Much thanks for those links JosephS. Part #7476 1.02 shock kit (front) and part #7482 1.39 shock kit (rear) are ordered.

Re: Factory Team shocks for T4 team build
I pretty much needed everything for the shocks. The only parts I had for shocks were the red o-rings, e-clips and pistons, basically $10 worth of maintenance parts. So those kits you posted were exactly what I needed. Wish I could buy ya a couple rounds.

Re: Factory Team shocks for T4 team build
I'd probably still convert to big bore springs to protect those shock bodies from rubbing.

Re: Factory Team shocks for T4 team build
I've read about that issue recently, so I'll likely do that. I'd need to get big bore 12mm threaded collars and spring cups, and that's it right?juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:14 pm I'd probably still convert to big bore springs to protect those shock bodies from rubbing.
It's mainly being built to be a shelfer, but like my turbo optimas and cat xls, I'll only drive it when I go to a track.

And big bore spring cups of your choice. I used some for a B5 but some of the nice aftermarket ones would look nice as well.

Re: Factory Team shocks for T4 team build
The FT shocks are all hard anodized. If you are only going to run them once in a while it's not likely there will be enough rubbing to mar the bodies.R6cowboy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 4:14 pmI've read about that issue recently, so I'll likely do that. And let's not discount the fact that they look good too.

Re: Factory Team shocks for T4 team build
at least one of the sets exist
https://www.associatedelectrics.com/teamassociated/parts/details/72032-ASC72032-12x27_5mm_shock_kit_v2/
the kashima coat bodies are pretty cheap online so a set can be made for the rears for $26 more
