I remember watching some old school videos in which Jay would race on Tamiya tires in the mid - 80s.
What size are on the original/classic/40th?
The original AE manual mentions the #53 Super Champ tires which I believe are Frog tires which have been in production for ages.
Would Frog rear tires work?

Yes Frog / Super champ tires fit .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
