Hyperdrive for RC10 Questions

Post by a01butal »

http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1180
Does anyone know what parts come with the Hyperdrive RC10 full race kit mentioned at the end of the ad displayed in the above link? I already have a belt assortment and some pinion and spur gears but that looks like it is using a diff of some sort. Thinking of trying to use this application and don't know if I'm missing parts. Maybe there was an instruction sheet? Thanks for any help you can provide.

That was the stock 6-gear external diff on that car. All it came with were the pinions, spurs and a few different sized belts.

I used to run a hyperdrive setup. Here is a rare hyperdrive motor plate for longer belts. I liked the marketing, only thing belt drive is good for was running quiet. Now if I can just find my old trackmaster direct drive. I see that's worth some $$$ now.

Way cool post Vice, that's a rare piece that motor bracket. Do you want to weigh in on the running the motor backwards issue?
As some one who actually ran it back in the day you might be able to add some more detail into what the makers instructionsd were.

Couldn't you assemble the transmission with the motor plate on the other side if you were running a belt?

You can swap the motor plate to the other side of the trans.

What I got when I bought the kit back in the day.

Hi ED,
Thanks for posting the picture. Can you make out what the number of teeth are and the belt sizes, I know they are way old but can't hurt to ask. Don't still have instructions by chance?

I have updated the Scan Section HyperDrive Thread that is shown in my first post in this Topic. I scored an RC10L Hyperdrive kit on the bay and I posted the instructions and another chart there. Got lots of belts, diff pulleys and motor pulleys just need to figure the best ratios to use.

I remember not getting the correct ratio and it was slower then my normal gear setup. I also remember having issues with the belt slipping off the spur. I then went to direct drive and sortly after stopped messing with RC cars. I was getting into real cars at 16 . My dad bought a me 1970 340 Cuda (like handing a gun to a child). That was the end of RC until the last 6 months. Here is my 1969 440 roadrunner for you muscle fans. Next to RR in the video is my 5 series BMW (love that car).

Vice that is such a sweet ride. Never had much to do with Mopar back when I was younger and I'm eating my heart out that your Dad gave you a Cuda. I loved those cars ever since watching the 70 Trans Am with Gurney and Savage blasting down the back straight at Road America. I still have dreams but that could just be the old age thing. That's a great ride don't ever get rid of it if you can. I had my own dream car for 10 years and back in 89 I sold it because people kept calling and even coming to my front door wanting to hand me fistfulls of money and I was stupid enough to think it was just a car and there'd be another one. There is another one but not the same as my 67 427/435 Vette, the other is a 88 Red Vette Conv with only 6486 miles I personally logged but it will never will be the same as the WOW factor from that 67. Even driving it new off the showroom floor does'nt rank if you don't have that factor.

I hear ya, we sold the cuda while I was in college and right before the market exploded. My father is sick over the sell now. Cudas are worth so much money now and we sold it for $9000 completely restored like the RR above. Now it's Worth well over $40000.
