Flea Market Rc's

Post by pituk »

I usually do not find anything at the flea market , so I was surprised to stumble across these today. I paid twenty dollars for the Stampede , seven dollars for the Kyosho and also found a bag of old Transformers toys . I already threw in batteries and took the Stampede for a spin around the backyard , a little slow but that will change in a few days  I am not familiar with the Kyosho , what kind of model is it ? It's also missing the front dogbones , will these be difficult to find ? Thanks in advance.

Wow - that rollcage alone is probably worth $100. Nice find - I never find vintage rc stuff at flea markets (except a Turbo Hopper now and then ;-).

The model is a javelin and the front dogbones are easy to find in my drawers ;)
If you plan to run it you can better get contemporary ultima RB5 CVD's with the fitting hexes.
Another option since you have no real connection to the car: sell it and buy a nice new kit of your profit

Nice find a fantastic deal. The rollcage looks to be in fantastic shape. Parts are plentiful on ebay but they get expensive. These cars have a rather large following.

$7 !! .....Im going to go cry in a corner with my credit card bill. Nice grab, you got some vintage value in that Kyosho.
This one will give you an idea of what you have, of course this one is complete and "Un-used" , its not mine or anything but you get the idea that you scored big time at the flea market!

wow... fantastic score on that javelin... thats pretty much the same as if you managed to buy a dusty mopar from a little old lady for a couple thousand dollars...

i dunno if anybody has mentioned it, but its pretty much an early kyosho optima with a cool looking tuber cage instead of the traditional lexan body.

again, you did very well on that. if it were me i'd do what appears to be a little cleanup, get some missing shock hardware, new wheels and a wing, and put that puppy on the shelf.

and dont let anybody try to talk you out of that until you have at least read-up on them a little bit. 8)

Thanks for the information guys , here are better pictures of the Kyosho. There was also a small bag of parts , are these the correct parts for the buggy ? I would like to get it running again so looks like I will need front cvds and steering linkage , will the Ultima rb5 cvd's be direct replacement ? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Joe

Fordtransman , I will take a picture of the Transformers tonight :D

Just so you feel even better about your $7 Javelin here is a current eBay auction that still has 2 days of bidding left for the tube chassis alone http://cgi.ebay.com/Kyosho-Javelin-body-kit-will-also-fit-optima_W0QQitemZ110292765403QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item110292765403&_trkparms=72%3A1156|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Guys, he wants to run it, not shelf it

I'd say, sell the cage and shocks, shafts, hexes, wheels, tires... then buy a sand viper or protech rc10 body, plus new shocks, hexes and cvd's for all 4 wheels, new wheels an rubber. Become the king of vintage racers!
