I know they arent "vintage"...but c'mon, Losi's first 4wd, and STILL very competitive today (what 12 years later?)....
Up first...my truggy/Heavy Metal XX4. Original "plastic" car, recently put a new chassis on it (yes it has been run since then). Graphite front tower, I have a plastic one to put back on there, just havent yet. Losi U-joints on all 4 corners. 3 degree rear arm mounts, CR carriers. Mamba 4600 power and Airtronics steers it well. I pulled the Spektrum receiver and put into my Slash. It is set up for stick pack lipo and works very well set up that way.

Up next is my "race" buggy. Blinged out with almost every blue item I could find (yes, I need front wheel nuts...). CVDs on all 4 corners, Novak 10.5 power (for now, I will be running super stock 13.5 class this year). Airtronics 258 makes the turn, while Novak makes the burn. I still have some more wiring to clean up, and finish up the lipo stick set up. I cant wait to get this car on some US soil (I got it from 1/2 way around the world recently!!)

And some other random shots over the past few years....As an X5, on a DRY track, the last time I raced it after a complete rebuild, and the infamous Heavy Metal body race (running a 6.5 Novak on an 1/8 scale supercross style track):

Whoa, is that X5 running an original XX4 front shock tower? The one without the extra "X" brace? I broke those like they were made of glass
Love my XX4, love my X5 even more. The newer Losi parts (towers, wishbones) don't seem very strong though. Your X5 looks good, low & almost sleek, must be the paint scheme. Mine looks like a big fat blob - the body is the worst bit of the car.
Overpowered 4wds with a parachute for a body...the Slash is so heavy that the body doesnt catch the air as bad, and your speeds arent near what 4wd mod is doing. IF I run the truck body again, it will be very underpowered. I think price point is another good reason the Slash does so well...
