RC10 project and a noseplate that makes me confused...

Post by Tobbe70 »

Hi all :)
As a newborn RC10-fan I don´t know that much about these wonderful cars yet and I am a little confused:
Recently, I bought a NIP noseplate (is that the correct name? ) for my Gold Pan and when I got it, I noticed that the colour was very different than the original, goldish colour. This has more copper in it...at first I thought it was re-anodized but it looks really "fresh out of the package" and nothing that looks strange in someway about the finish. Are there parts out there that really differs that much in the colour?
I also would like to apologize if someone thinks I "ruined" this RC10 by mounting these tires, mirrors a s o, I know it´s not as it should be, I just liked them so much that I had to try them on  :)
Thx in advance.
/Tobbe

the shades of gold vary. you could open up a brand new kit and the stuff wouldn't match. it's just the way it is.

Your car looks great and if you think you need to apologize for doing something that others will dissaprove of, brother you are in the wrong place. You will need to ship me your car so the Period Correct Police can inspect and certify any changes you have made from original stock condition.

I saw a nose plate on ebay not long ago that was advertised as nip that was REALLY gold and shiny that looked like nothing I have ever seen. I don't know for sure but I would guess it was re-anodised, not very well IMHO, and repackaged. I wonder if this is the one you got?

The one I got looks very good (except for the copperish tone) and if it´s re-anodized they did a great job (even greater if the colour would have matched better). :)

I didn't mean that it looked bad, it actually looked really good. I just don't see why someone would go through the trouble and have it be wrong. Maybe it was just the photo but it looked way too shiny!

Super looking buggy. I always thought(from learning on this site) the earlier RC10s are like a light gold beige and later ones are more copper orange. I have some tubs that are both and the difference is quite striking when they are side by side.
