RC10 Oval cars!!!

Post by amx73 »

When I was a young racer I would build carpet and dirt oval cars all the time. I recently revisited the good ol' days and built a few. The EDM car has a Kipps body, Speedy's shock towers, RPM ball bearing steering and rear body mount! It is the exact specs as the last carpet EDM car I built some 15 years ago!

The second car started as a Team car I bought of eBay, and it was in very nice shape. I bought a Speedy's Bomber kit and went to town!!! It has a Futaba Magnum PCM Radio, a Novak 410-M5 ESC, and a Tony Nesinger 14 turn Modified motor, that was brand new in the package!! Enjoy!

I bought a few sets from Speedy's!! Went to Trains and Lanes in PA to dig through the boxes of old tires and scorred the TRC fronts!!! Even got a set for a JRX2!

ya, last time i looked through their tires i saw 1 or 2 pairs of old trc foams. they've been picked pretty clean in the "old school tire" department. even the pancar stuff. for how huge carpet racing was at that place, not much of that stuff left either.

They had a set of green rc10 fronts and one set of green jrx2 fronts. No rears anywhere! They use to have a ton of old losi parts but, didn't see any of that stuff either. I use to race there on occasion in the EDM class up stairs. It was so much fun! I wish there was a Vintage Oval Nationals!!!

the upstairs oval has been gone for a couple years. they installed batting cages.

they did put a small road course layout on the remaining area that wasn't covered. but, they only run the 1/16-1/18 scale up there. i guess their getting ready to layout the new offroad track. it's gonna be on the opposite side of the building, far away from the asphalt oval. between the water/mud runoff from the offroad track, and morons cleaning their muddy shoes/boots and muddy car/truck tires off on it, that asphalt track is always a freaking mess.

i guess their first outdoor race is today on the oval. i might see if my wife wants to go for a ride a little later. :)
