Re: UU's "Thundershot TRF Special"
I don't have a 3D printer, and probably not likely to get one, I just don't have enough use for it. Easy enough to get things printed and sent to me.

Re: my newest a rc Kyosho optima mid
Seems to be the major problem - they have to be on correctly and not touch the belts. Even then, under power, the belts are apt to "spin up" and contact the top cover a little at least. I never tested it without the covers as mine ran fine with them. The Lazer ZX OTOH, seemed to drag more....

Re: my newest a rc Kyosho optima mid
I do love the Optima Mids - I have 3, and quite a few replacement parts. I've got my TOMS shelf queen, and my swb mid on the shelf. Still haven't cleaned/polished my lwb mid. Shame I never got to test the Lazer ZXs before I left... Some of the guys I ran with would run the Mid without the covers, an...

Re: Help me pls
Pretty much all of the parts for the Mids will interchange... Mostly the models are all the same, just that the "higher end" ones come with hop ups. Even with the long wheel base models will mostly interchange with the shorter ones, except for the belts and covers.

Re: UU's "Thundershot TRF Special"
Ok, the Terra Scorcher is alive again! Install of the part was a bit of work, but looks good. Comparing the parts, the new one is about 2.5-3 times the thickness of the original. I had to drill out the holes for the pivots and the screws, but that was pretty simple. The c-clips went on easily, only ...

Re: UU's "Thundershot TRF Special"
Well, can't find an aluminum replacement for the A5 part. There's an ebay seller from the UK selling a steel reinforcement bracket, but not the part itself. But, I found a site - https://www.shapeways.com/ . They do 3D printing in all kinds of materials. Just so happens there's lots of RC parts on t...

Re: UU's "Thundershot TRF Special"
Well, dang. Let the kids play with it over the weekend, and it's broken already. Snapped the front suspension holder/bumper support. I know I used to see aluminum ones on eBay, but can't seems to find one now. Guess it's on the shelf till I can find a replacement.

Re: UU's "Thundershot TRF Special"
Picked up some nice wheels and 12mm adapters for the Terra Scorcher. The adapters fit pretty well. Got both off of Amazon. Got an ESC on order and just got a Quanum tx/rx. This will be the granddaughters car so I needed something smaller.

Re: Budget friendly rx and tx
Just gto the GT3C and Quanum in - WOW, can't believe how small the receivers are! Haven't tried to install yet, my ESC hasn't arrived. Did get some great 2.2 wheels and some 12mm adapters for the Terra Scorcher.

Re: Optima Mid Runner Budget Build
I only know of 2 body styles from Kyosho for the stretched mids. The one with the Custom Special and the one that looked like the original mid. I have both, but never got around to using the CS body. it's still in my box of parts. I couldn't say about the TOMS availability. I picked mine up while in...

Re: Optima Mid Runner Budget Build
The TOMS (Turbo Optima Mid Special) was a "special" version of the extended Optima Mid. It came with bearings, no motor/speed control and carbon Fiber chassis/top plate. And a few other things I can't recall. IIRC, The Optima Mid Custom Special was pretty much the same thing with the alumi...

Re: Budget friendly rx and tx
I picked up a Quanum with receiver, and a Flysky GT3C with receiver. I think the Quanum was around $25 or so. Got it for the smaller hands. Picked up the Flysky for me. Haven't gotten them in yet, but from the pics, it looks like the connectors are the same as my old Futaba servos. If not, Amazon ha...

Re: Optima Mid Runner Budget Build
I was just looking at the build pics of my Lazer ZX. It looks like it has the taper axles on it, not pins.
