Re: WLToys curiosity project
First of all, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Easter! After some delay, due to a family issue, I finally got a new body and wheels for the project. The body is a McAllister #240 modified coupe. I've attempted a subtle flame job with masking and rattle cans. The handles and mirror are made from jew...

Re: What's in the mail? Or, What are you currently waiting for?
I watched my package from Mcallister go from Missouri to Chicago...and dissappear for 5 days. Florida is a completely opposite direction from Missouri. I contacted USPS with the tracking number yesterday, and suddenly it's in Tampa, out for delivery today. (Mcallister contacted them, as well). 12 da...

Re: WLToys curiosity project
Why are the wheel base dimensions length and width? Tamiya Beetle Body maybe? It is 9"/230mm wheelbase, and 8"/200mm width measured at the front axle.....I think a Baja style VW may work out pretty well, but I'm stiil checking options. I've been building my shopping list for what I'm goin...

Re: POS Runner of the Month - March 2025
Here is my "ugly runner"....It started as an Associated T3 stadium truck. The chassis, rear shock tower, bumper and braces are all G-10 fiberglass, hand-cut on a scroll saw...Dimensions have been stretched to short course specs. The bulkhead is actually a servo mount from Exotek, and steer...

Re: WLToys curiosity project
I get it. At that price point it encourages tinkering and customizing. When you spend $400-500 on a kit and then the upgrades are another $100 or more it gets hard to justify if you are not racing and even then. Look forward to seeing what you do with it. This is exactly why I chose this particular...

Re: WLToys curiosity project
I'm as old school as they come and of course prefer the brands we love here but for everyday throw it in the yard or off a cliff and have fun, "racers" or "RC snobs" miss out on a lot of cheap RC fun ignoring these. As to parts, at these prices you can buy 6 of them for the pric...

Re: WLToys curiosity project
Ryan Styles Harris on his YT channel a while back took one of these and his 4wd Losi buggy to track. Despite being unfair and having the Losi on race tires and the WL not, the WL was not far off and not tuned at all. The price actually just makes me realize how much we are being ripped off on the &...

Re: WLToys curiosity project
What about parts? Do you need to buy 2 for spare parts? Amazon has a full line of replacement parts and other upgrades. It uses standard electronics, although the stock transmitter sucks. Since it's 1/12 scale, the worst thing is body availability. I'll probably use an open wheel 1/10 coupe, becaus...

WLToys curiosity project
I've had the building/tinkering bug lately. I'm pretty much done with the cars I have, and honestly, I don't have the money to build what I'd really like...Anyways, I still get tires and odd hardware from Amazon periodically. I never paid much attention to the RC cars they have, until now...I took t...

Re: Help me do 40+
My main question is: Why? Doing 40mph in a goldpan sounds scary. Not as scary as you'd think........ Screenshot_20231113_144500_Power GNSS.jpg Original 6-gear street basher, using "bargain basement" electronics..... Turnigy Trackstar 10.5T with adjustable timing, Hobby King X-car 45A ESC.

Re: DIY Single Color Vinyl Decals
Awesome post on the Cricut basics. It's a game changer for doing graphics on cars. One thing I've done was take a photo of a decal sheet, seperate them in a photo edit program, and print on Crucut printable vinyl as a "Print then cut"... It isn't as shiny as regular, but it works for small...

Tribute to my Friend
Hello, it's been awhile since I've posted here. I wanted to show a very special car body...It's a tribute to my "brother from a different mother", Ramiro Padilla. Recently, I spoke to his brother, and was inspired to do do this project. The body is a JConcepts Mirage, mounted on my shelfer...

Re: New RC Genre
Have you tried putting it inside the bodywork because IR should be able to go through lexan. Also have you heard of NRC projects? I did consider mounting the transponder under the body, but I would have to unplug it every time I remove the body. It's more for convenience. ...If I use the Inferno bo...

Re: New RC Genre
... I found it much more challenging to race them than the common 1/10 and 1/8 size cars. If you've tried it then you know! I have found it VERY challenging! ...The last racing I've done was dirt oval with 1/10. I'm having to learn how to drive all over again....BTW, the body was painted in floures...
