Will be interesting to see how many parts are directly compatible with the original, what was the case with the Scorpion?
I hope they don't repurpose bits from the ZX-5 and make if shaft drive so it can have ball diffs
When is it due to be released?

Maybe they will put UJs or CVDs in the front.

Re: Optima is back!!
Totally buying one of these, can't wait. Hmmm maybe I need two Wonder if the shell will be identical to the original Be interesting to see if it has the original or the turbo/mid wishbones I still think the Ultima is an inevitable for rerelease so expect that next if Kyosho are doing them in chronol...

Re: Turbo Optima Mid SE-X
That stabilizer set is rather interesting. I have been considering switching the rear to a Lazer shock tower and wishbones but I think I'll leave it as it is and just finish it, I keep getting distracted by other projects. I think black plastic OT-16s will end up on it and provide nice symmetry to t...

Re: Turbo Optima Mid SE-X
Thanks for the info, I'll still have the same problem of having to get the parts anodised gold though.
Couldn't find it in the parts list, what brand are those blue ballstuds you used for the bottom shock mount.
Also where did you get the gold turnbuckles from

Re: Turbo Optima Mid SE-X
I have had a few more pieces anodised gold for this project. I now however find myself in a bind. I wouldn't mind some gold knuckle arms in lieu of black plastic OT-16s however the guy that anodised all the other bits isn't anodising anymore. I thought a pair of3Racing knuckles re-anodised in gold a...

Re: Turbo Optima Mid - Evolution aka 21st Century Mid
Thanks for the positive feedback guys.
I have a ZX-S shell for it, just deciding which shock towers to finally settle on for it.
I have an alloy version of the rear shock tower that has been anodised blue that may go on along with a ZX-S style CF front tower but I have others to pick from too

Are the front tyres of the rere compatible with the original sc-26?
If so do they look identical?

Re: Kyosho Optima Build
I also do exactly what Coelacanth said but also go up to 2000 grit paper as a final step and then buff on a buffing wheel with metal polish
Cast parts don't always turn out quite as well or maintain their shine as long but you still get very shiny results

Re: My "collection"
The shocks are Platinum shocks
They came on the Turbo Optima Mid SE and Turbo Ultima and IIRC Turbo Rocky
The bumper I believe is from a Burns
The chassis does look like an otw-5, have you got pics of the other chassis?

Re: My "collection"
Did anyone notice the carbon chassis on the LWB Mid, that might be an OTW-5
And the wide yellow wheels in the spare parts photo
When you get a chance list what other bits came with it there could be some really interesting stuff in the mix
Are there any bodies or wings amongst it all?

Re: Joel 'Magic' Johnson's 1987 IFMAR 2wd winning Ultima
IIRC back in the day the Australian publication "Radio Control Car Action" had an article titled"The Ultimate Ultima" in which the author built an Ultima with every conceivable aftermarket part. This was not long after Joel won the worlds and many references in the article were m...
