Re: Hello, new old guy from NoVA by way of upstate NY here
Because you were all dying for a sequel... Fast-forward 15+ years and, feeling a little nostalgic, I picked up an issue of Radio Control Car Action on a whim. Thumbing through the pages of that issue (and the following month's), it was strange and somewhat sad to see how much the hobby/sport had ch...

Re: New Pontiac Firebird?
While I can appreciate nice work, I'm not a fan of these Trans Am recreations. They are based on the 5th gen F-body platform which was styled after the '69 Camaro which was a 1st gen car. Trans Ams were 2nd gen cars. No matter what they do with the grille, taillights, wheels, paint and fire chicken ...

Thanks! Glad I wasn't holding my breath for a reply.

Re: Scr8p's Classic - Stock Build
I just bought an LRP 3.1 direct from Associated for $30 to pair with a cheap Reedy Radon 17t motor. $50 for a 'classic'-looking LRP/Reedy combo for a more-shelf-than-dirt RC10 ain't bad!

Not as elegant as an in-line fuse holder, but it worked well and the flats made them dead-simple to solder.

Re: Intriguing ad in RC Car Action - RC10 re-release?
I'm all for modern tires but I'm not a fan of those wheels. Maybe in black but that's it.
Dumb question: do they need to be used together or will these tires fit the kit 3-piece wheels? The beads don't look like they would fit.

Re: Intriguing ad in RC Car Action - RC10 re-release?
Problems with fitting bearings into one of the outdrives is really the only problem I've had, but it's a pretty big one. The bearings still aren't seated correctly since the gear drags on the inside of the case and the clip is not in the groove all the way. I tried the freezer/oven trick with no pr...

Re: *Parts needed to run modern 2.2 rims/tires on your rc10*
I know this thread is mainly about rear wheels but I have a question about the fronts. Since there is nothing special about the steering blocks or bearings that come in Associated's 6801 kit, the wide-track axles are needed simply due to modern wheels' deeper offset and keep the front-end geometry t...

Re: Modern Car - Atomik V2MR
Very nice!
I've since converted mine back to a 'traditional' rear motor setup since I don't want to have to buy a saddle pack to run it. I'll probably convert my DEX210 to mid-motor since you can still use stick packs with it that way. Neither car is done yet so who knows how they will end up.

Re: Modern Car - Atomik V2MR
I needed something new to build so I picked up a V2MR direct from Atomik for $130 with free shipping. Can't beat that with a stick. The box and packaging is nice which is a good thing to see when buying something new. I built it mid-motor just to try something different. Everything went together pre...

Re: Masami's crooked steering.
That's what I always liked about Masami's cars. They always looked like a well-tested and well-used patchwork of spare parts that obviously worked very well together.
Look at those hacked nose brace tubes!

Re: Intriguing ad in RC Car Action - RC10 re-release?
I picked mine up from the LHS a few weeks ago after stupidly cancelling my Tower backorder a while back. Thankfully they had three in stock at the time and were not gouging the price. I enjoyed the build for the most part, my first RC10 build in 20 years so it was somewhat surreal having my hands on...

Thanks! You guys all seem like a straightforward knowledgeable group here. I've done too much reading and not enough posting/contributing. I gotta work on that. Are you a writer by trade  ? Haha, no. I actually to hate write but I sure can churn out a long-winded post when inspired to do so...

Re: Hello, new old guy from NoVA by way of upstate NY here
On a side note, I mentioned above that I didn't drive these things often for fear of getting them dirty and beating them up. Well, among a collection that included cars like an RPM '91 Worlds-converted Fusion Speed graphite tub with all the trimmings, and a double-deck Composite Craft chassis made f...

Hello, new old guy from NoVA by way of upstate NY here
Hello, all. After lurking for a few months I've decided to sign up and join in! Like many guys here it seems, I got into R/C when I was a kid in the early 80's. My first experience was seeing someone doing stunts with a Wild Willy in front of the hobby shop in the Bazaar Mall in Mt. Kisco NY, and I ...
