Coupons and Specials

Not sure if there is already a place for this, if not, post current sales and coupons that will help fellow members. I’ll start with MCI Racing. They have a 20% discount for this weekend. I wasn’t aware they made repro RC10 plastic parts and tires.

RC10 DS unboxing in 2022 (Japan kit)

This is an unboxing of the RC10 DS kit from Japan. This is the racer spec kit with teflon-coated shocks and full bearings. I think most Associated kits sold in Japan were all racing spec since parts and hop-ups were harder to come by. Mine didn't come with a body...is this normal or just missing? Th...

Vintage Advertisements from Team Associated catalog

This came with my RC10 DS kit just as Associated was moving on to the RC10B2.
They were still selling the RC10 C.E. as the "best value in American made cars" interestingly.

Re: shock setups for dirt tracks

Your base line is probably alright. Not really gonna know until you try it. The right tires are probably more important. Try and find out what the fast guys run before you even go there.

Re: shock setups for dirt tracks

Pins and ribs is not old fashioned if they work. All my stuff has pins and ribs for the track I'll be running next weekend. Though if it grooves up real well, you could probably go to an Ellipse Or Dirt Web style tire. But for my truck, I only have Carvers and Sprinters mounted up. So I'll be sticki...

Re: shock setups for dirt tracks

Since you already have #2 pistons in the front/rear maybe bring a #1 piston rear with 30 - 32wt and a #3 front with 30 - 32wt for some quick tuning options.

Re: Converting RC10 Graphite to RC10 Graphite Replica

Not really a match for the original gold, but the color is good enough for my refurbished nose plate. Next up, a little worlds style trimming.

Re: Rulon disc & diff drive rings (Stealth rebuild)

I suspect that the carbon fiber disk is a crossover from fishing reels. The rulon drags are commonly replaced with carbon fiber.

There are also special greases (Cal's) made for baitcast reel drags. It makes them smoother, without losing much strength. I've wondered how it would work with a slipper.

Re: Are all white vintage ball cups going to shatter at this point?

The captured ones on my car are AE shock rod ends. I only have them on there because it's a replica and that's what Masami did. Otherwise it would've been ball cups..... which most likely would have popped off and saved my knuckle. I actually didn't even want to race that particular car becau...

Re: Tires for a dirt race on a damp track

From my experience, if the track wasn't swept and is very wet, the lose dirt becomes sticky (like mud) and can fill tires with very tightly spaced rows of spikes, turning them into slicks. Pro-line hole shots are one example. In this case, I go with tires with more widely spaced spikes as they tend ...
