Unless your shock bodies are damaged, I see no reason to replace the shocks. They are easy to clean and rebuild. It was probably a good idea to replace the thrust spring anyways. If they loose tension, it can cause the diff to run loose and damage it.

I've always liked the black aluminum caps on gold bodies. Unfortunately, most of my caps are plastic.

I know that some had issues with the slipper clutch hitting the motor mount plate.

I think that there may have been an issue with some of the transmission cases being warped or something, causing binding.
