Re: DIY rocking horse manure
Heat it to glowing orange, and quench in an oil bath until you can handle it. Then the important part is the temper, hopefully you tempered it, taking it between 700-400 degrees F (depending on how hard you want it) for a part that size, about an hour. You want it tough so I would temper at about 50...

Re: Taking an old Bullet model out of mothballs
Yeah the Traxxas white nylon definitely ages poorly, if you plan to restore it and run it it is worth boiling the parts or at least soaking in water for day or so. The gear case/arm mounts is not pure nylon so DO NOT boil that part. It is also quite fragile. The body is super fragile, and as you fou...

Re: Taking an old Bullet model out of mothballs
If you can make a new body, that's pretty great!!!
For sure if you run it hard enough you will break stuff. If your plan is that, you are probably better off cleaning it up for shelf duty

Re: Things that I sold, and now regret.
I regret that i sold my 81 firebird. And that we scrapped so many good g body cars, square body Chevy trucks and a '78 trans am, among others.

Re: TRX-1 gearbox hodgepodge - Bandit, Rustler, Slash gearbox parts?
Those Traxxas shocks are nice and smooth. Pretty much copies of associated construction.

Re: Cool RC10 Progression Example... imo
Definitely late build. The b2's had black aluminum caps so it's not impossible. Pretty cool.

Re: Land Speed Rocket Car
I love it. Just mentioning you *may* want to review your front axle and get some kind of caster built in. High speed (and we are talking high speed) stability comes to mind. It also scrubs off steering sensitivity.

Re: Unknown RC10 Composite Oval Racing Chassis
I tend to agree. Although I think Phin narrowed down the chassis with the limited side holes to definitely be composite craft as opposed to another vendor(but made by composite craft anyway).

Re: Unknown RC10 Composite Oval Racing Chassis

Re: The 'Holiest' of Holy Grails AGI Jammer Build
Yep since the motor is flipped the polarity is reversed. Not a problem on a modified motor but a timed super stock type motor would be unhappy. Usually you flip the top shaft and cut the motor plate, if you can't flip polarity.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Robinson adjustable toe rear arm mounts. It had a turnbuckle to adjust and required the hole to be cut for access.

Re: Blue tub RC10 RPM build
I have some updates so I can finally add it to the BOTM contest! Thanks to Markydents for a sweet piece to help RPM this thing a little further(rear bulkhead!), and Mike A. (Mikea96) for a sweet lid to help put the cherry on top!! I pulled some vintage NOS tires out of the part bin to place on the w...

Re: Lapping Iron Plates
Check McMaster carr for lapping compounds. The clover stuff is reasonably priced. The choices they offer gives you an idea of the surface finish you might be looking for.
