I think I got this sorted finally. Rebuilt the steering accirdjng to the manual (and discovered I had way too much negative camber along the way). It didn’t feel stuck when I was moving the turnbuckles manually, but one of the kingpins had a deep gouge in it. It took an hour to get out! Filed the go...

And a happy 7th birthday to our boy Louie..... Considering it's two and a half weeks past when he was told he only had two to four weeks to live (lymphoma), we're really happy he's still kicking, and hope there will be many more birthdays (and treats!) to come.
