She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy
Here's my final RC project...A 1966 Massey Ferguson 165 ag tractor. It's entirely hand-built using a dremel, with metal from K&S and the local hardware store. The front axles and steering linkage are from DuBro. The hood is styrene plastic, and I used a gearbox and rear end from an Axial crawler. The motor is a Venom 50-turn crawler, with an Associated ESC and Futaba radio gear....It runs about 6-8 mph (it's a tractor, what do you expect?), but it can climb a wall. I figure it was a fitting end to my RC hobby, since I sell parts for the REAL ones. (Maybe someday, I'll consider restoring another RC10.)...Enjoy!!

Re: She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy
Great Idea, thanks...I'll have to do that. We had this same tractor on our farm, when I was a kid...When we baled hay, I would tow the trailer around ever since I was big enough to step on the clutch... Today, they're a far cry from those old tractors.
Thanks again for the idea.

If they ever have a "Vintage Tractor" class at the RC clubs, I think a 'farmer doll' will be necessary. Nice job on the fabrication!

Hcp22: Here you go...
Coelacanth: I think I need to find a "Daisy Duke" doll to fit...I'll check Walmart this weekend.
Steve: Green tractors are sacreligious here...I can't be building a replica of our competition
The driveshaft is slightly angled to line up with the rear end. The yokes are steel, with set screws on both sides. It's too much of a pain to take apart (I hope I never have to). The antenna runs up through the stack.Coelacanth: I think I need to find a "Daisy Duke" doll to fit...I'll check Walmart this weekend.

Re: She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy
I found an engine pic for the sides while looking through Bing. That really finished it off. I'll have to bring it home and take a couple of pics... Right now, it's on the counter at work. The boss loves it! He drove it all over the parking lot and yard, and was like a little kid...He mentioned bringing it to the next Ag show when we have a booth. But first I need to make a Bush Hog mower to tow around....and I thought I was done.
No luck finding a suitable driver at Walmart. Everything would've just made it look cheesy.
Thanks to all for the compliments and suggestions.

Re: She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy
OK...NOW I'm officially finished. My boss thought it needed something to tow, so here it is...(no, it isn't functional.)
I had to add a drawbar and PTO housing to the tractor in order to make the connection look right. Note the engine pic added to it.
...Still no luck on the Daisy Duke doll.

Very nice! And I like your rush quote too.
I don't know about calling it a final project though.... you've already had another project to add to it!
