RC10 Green Edition - Build

I used it just buy bulk from Avid and have a huge stash of bearings for $1 a bearing but I got lazy and usually buy kits now too. I have used Fast Eddy and others. I am assuming the OG Tamiya wheels were a metric size, maybe Jay just shoved the SAE bearing in it to fit the axles back in day. Not really sure, just thinking out loud.

Tamiya is metric for certain. JJH used the Pro-Line 100F Chrome wheels, which were 1.5" and made specifically for the Tamiya SRB, must've been the Sand Scorcher, because the other SRB's had larger wheels, 1.7" for the Rough Rider, and larger still for the Ford F150.

I doubt for the '85 IFMAR race that JJH used those plastic conversion bushings that used to come with the A-stamp cars, that make RC10 axles/bearings fit in the Tamiya wheels.




I was lucky to find a pair of vintage TeamCRP front axles, for Tamiya to RC10:






Worked all day and night, wasn't able to do anything RC today. I'll get back to the GE tomorrow.

Lost the bowed E-clip for about 12 hours last night and today. It disappeared magically when trying to install it, and while trying to check the manual for which way the curve faces, concave or convex?? At that moment it was just gone, didn't even make a sound.

But after tearing the place apart in daylight, here it is.


If you've ever tried to replace one of these, good luck, there isn't even a part number listed for it. Found one on ebay, for $26 + shipping in a bag with the rest of that stage. Thankfully I won't be needing it.

The new MIP CVD's are nice, this is my first newer pair, since '98 or so.


They even give you the extra parts that tend to fly off and get lost.

That bearing kit has the wrong size bearings for the front wheels assuming the green edition wheels are same as the Halsey wheels. Ask me how I know

You were exactly correct! I had the rear hub bearings in the front wheels, and they fit perfectly, but those weren't intended to be used up front. FastEddy has the wrong sized front bearings in their kit too, going to have to contact them tomorrow.

I was hoping to count on them blindly for projects like this, will make sure in the future what's included in the kit.

The correct size front bearings for the GE wheels, are the same size as the bearings in the rear hub carrier, the front bearings included are too small.


Wasn't necessarily going to use those wheels though...

Orange shocks look a bit goofy on a green car, going to have to figure something out.



Found an extra black 48dp 81T spur gear that seemingly had been waiting for this project.


Debating putting together those stock turnbuckles, or finding something more fitting and upgraded. Will have a look at what's available, and decide tomorrow.
