sc10t banned from comp

Post by Soncho Ponza »

The NW shortcourse is set for May 15th in Pasco Wash. The event seems to have an issue regarding "hybrid trucks"---My sc10t is not allowed to race the event...(I WAS ONLY GOING TO RACE HER IN MOD) that also means any xxxt lxt schumacher traxxus cust built CORR is not allowed..  i have watched and read about, over the years, some of the coolist home made or company modded chassis graph glued extended one off rc creations Raced at the biggest events at nats and the worlds.. The reason i came back to RC was to build, MOD,and race. I know you have all seen rigs that have got u excited to build. IF you frequent RCTEC or just want to check it out voice an opinion...Starting about page 5 on

this almost happened to me at 2 of my local tracks... i raced oval with a rc10t.. my dad modded the chassis to fit the bat off to the side.... this worked great and won alot of races...some people were not happy saying it against roar(i think) rules and i shouldnt be able to run it... i was like give me a break.. protest when where at a roar race not a little rc track in nj... these people saying you cant race a mod class, suck.. whats the point of a mod class if you cant mod stuff??? the only stuff that should matter is your LxWxH wheels, tires ,body and its 2wd

I agree with both of you. The whole reason that r/c is where it is today is because of people using their innovation to drive the level of competition higher. If it's a mod class I think it's best suited to pit trucks of the same class, but many different designs against each other to see what works best. That would really serve all companies best. Spec class I can understand, but you have every right to be pissed in this case. It's their loss...

yes but most of these new guys truly believe that if you don't have the newest and best equipment that you don't stand a chance. now if we implant them with the idea of "what the hell let him run that old thing cause he don't stand a chance", then they might drop their guard long enough to allow you to join in the race. trust me i'm all for vintage rights.

i just downloaded the 2010 roar rulebook. i'm currently working on reading through it and found something i didn't like. the minimum tire width on a 1/10 truck is 2.0". so in other words the rc10t's that came with the skinny front tires can not run them. and i just picked up some skinny fronts for my wife's rc10t.

Our local track has both spec and a 10.5 corr class.

Spec for the whiners, 10.5 for those who dont like having to buy crappy fixed endbell motors every month. Lots of the racers have graduated from spec to 10.5. Better racing and faster trucks. Once people realize the only real difference in cost between the 2 classes is a BL system, they usually jump on board. There was a lot of fear at first that it was going to be a whoever has the most expensive truck wins kind of thing....

I raced a rc10gt converted to electric at the ROAR region 8 race with no problems. They said as long as it passes tech it was good to go.

I don't think ROAR would have a problem with home built trucks, as long as it passes tech. That's the problem with "spec" racing, somehow it turns a bunch of racers into a bunch of whiners. One of the biggest hurdles with the new SCT classes is every track has their own set of rules, I'm all for keeping cost low, but why not just follow ROAR SCT rules? They say nothing about conversions being illegal, hell a one off X-Factory SCT truck was in the A main at the ROAR nationals last year.

Dumb rule

Aaaaahhhh crap! I'm about to get passed by that orange truck!

Spec racing is great as long as there are hard and fast rules about what's legal and what isn't. If the spec class was for one make of truck, only Slashes or only SC10, then that's one thing. If it's open to an multiple makes, then who is to say what is fair or not? The Legends class has always just been Legends cars and whatever the rule book says, nothing else. The Tamiya Championship Series was any Tamiya car and hop-up, which had a limited performance potential per car.

There was a Trinity Street Spec series in the mid 90s; multiple manufacturers were allowed, but the chassis had to be approved by Trinity, and everybody ran the same tires, motors, and batteries. Only three companies made the pan cars, but it was a reasonable effort. There was a Losi attempt at this, but I don't think off-road racers think the same way, the mentality is different (and the tires were blue...).

I think a spec motor/battery/tire rule will have a MUCH bigger impact on the parity in the racing than the chassis will.
