NEED Help RC10T Restoration
NEED Help RC10T Restoration
Hello,
I just picked up a pretty good condition RC10T. Couple of questions....
1. ( Front Wheels ) Wiil modern wheels work on orig axles?
2. ( Rear Wheels ) Same question.....
3. ( Rear Axles ) Can the CVD's from a RC10 GT fit, and if so will they allow me to run current style rear wheels? Also What is needed to replace the Orig Axles with RC10 GT CVD's?
4. Will the slipper clutch from a T4 fit the RPM 2.65 ratio top shaft?
Thank You!

Re: NEED Help RC10T Restoration
1. Modern wheels will not work on front axles unless you change out the bearings from the original front wheels. Ex. I just got SC10 wheels and swapped the bearings from my original 6 gear front wheels with the fronts of the SC10.
2 and 3. Yes use the GT/T2 3/16 CVD's and moderns will fit, BUT you need to replace the bearings in the carrier.
4. I dont believe so, scr8p has said that only the b3 slipper will fit the RPM trans.
5. No, and I have been looking on feebay myself for one.

Bearing wise yes. AvidRC has bearings for a low price mostly $1.00 a piece. Just becareful of what front wheels because some have a hex backing or go by mm.

Re: NEED Help RC10T Restoration
Not sure I follow the previous statements about the front wheels; wheels for all the Associated trucks have used standard 3/16x3/8 bearings for decades. The bearings from the original RC10T will fit modern wheels (I have a set of SC10 wheels as well).
For the rear wheels, there are still some wheels made to fit the original 1/4" axles, but most are for the 3/16" axles. As noted before, it's an easy swap. You can get wheel adapters from HPI to fit wheels with a 12mm hex on the rear, and that set comes with adapters for both axles sizes.

Re: NEED Help RC10T Restoration
Does anyone know how many Hydra-Drive top shafts were made for the RC10T? There is one on Ebay, ( NEW ) it says Associated RC-10 HYDRA-DRIVE TOP SHAFT ALL STEALTH.....

Don't know if they made just one shaft that is 2.65 ratio....

1) Yes T4 front wheels will work with your original bearings.ffpm46 wrote:Hello,

2) Yes T4 rear wheels will work if you have 3/16 version axles.
3) Yes 3/16 RC10GT MIP CVD's will work perfect.
4) No, but a B3 slipper will fit the RPM top shaft.

Re: NEED Help RC10T Restoration
Thank you for all the input!
I have a couple of conflicting ideas about the RPM top shaft and T4 slipper. One said it will fit but the cover has to be modified????
I guess I will find out soon enough.
Thank again everyone

Re: NEED Help RC10T Restoration
here's the deal.........
rpm made 2 different topshafts for their 2.65 stealth conversion. one for a slipper, and one for the hydradive. to even being thinking about using a b4/t4 slipper, you'd have to have the hydradrive topshaft.
now will a b4/t4 slipper fit on the topshaft made for the hydra? yes........ kinda. can you put the slipper hubs, discs, and spur gear on the shaft with any interference of the motor plate? yes you can. can you install the b4/t4 slipper spring on the hydradrive topshaft? the answer is no. the diameter of the shaft is larger than the spring, and the entire lenght of the shaft in general is too long.
could you machine the topshaft to make it all work? probably. is it worth it? not in my opinion.

Re: NEED Help RC10T Restoration
I understand, Thank you.
So in your opinion, which is a better Slipper, the RC10T stealth slipper, or the RC10 GT slipper.
I am assuming the RC10 GT slipper will fit on the RPM Top Shaft.
If it does not, can I still get the orig RC10T stealth slipper?

Re: NEED Help RC10T Restoration
the inner hub of a gt slipper won't work because of the hex that's on it to hold the brake disc.
parts of the 2.25 stealth slipper are discontinued. so i would just get the parts from a b2, b3, t3. it's better than the original one anyway, in my opinion.
